Introduction

Darren
Professional Consigner

Presented in good condition, make sure you don't miss out on this 911

The 911 is always going to regarded as being the car with the most well-rounded driving experience due to many factors: its comfort, low driving position, incredible engineering, and pleasure. Due to personal reasons, Simon is looking to sell and will be sad to see it go however there are other projects he really wants to get his hands on.

We are always excited when a 911 comes through to our service and this one is no different.

This auction listing was written from information supplied by Darren after meeting Simon the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

Please watch the ‘Meet the Owner’ video as Simon expands further on his time with the car and why he is looking to sell.

Simon has owned this vehicle for the last 8 years after his brother-in-law gave it to him so they could restore the Carrera back to most of its original factory specification, and use the example as a holiday car. Due to personal reasons, the car has been locked away for the last 6 years after Simon enjoyed it for his first 2 years of ownership.

He really wants a new owner to enjoy the complete driving experience you get with such an iconic machine. He mentions under his ownership, the brakes have been rebuilt as well as a new Targa roof attached to the car.

Exterior

The body of the car looks absolutely stunning with its curved rear arches and classic 911 shape. Please watch our ‘Exterior Review’ video and all the photos, as you can review the full condition of the car for yourself in great detail.

Wheels and Tyres

The car is fitted with Fuchs wheels that appear to be in good condition, they could be refreshed by the new owner. The tread on the tyres is in good condition.

Bodywork

The car appears to have had an after-market ducktail spoiler installed by a previous owner, opposed to the whale-tail that originally came with the car. We didn’t see any dents across the bodywork, the front bumper is suffering from bubbling, watch our detailed video review of the car.

Paint

Set in a beautiful red, the car really does look stunning. You can see the full condition of the paintwork in our media file. Usual stone chips can be seen on the front bumper and wing mirrors.

Glass and Trim

Both are in great condition across the car.

Interior

The interior maintains a lot of originality and appears to be overall in good condition. Simon mentions he has removed as many after-market features as possible as that’s what he likes. The trim of the car is half leather and half fabric whilst the car comes with that classic Porsche steering wheel and 5-speed manual gearbox.

Seats and Carpets

Both the seats and carpets are in good condition considering the age and mileage of the car. The carpets could do with a good clean but have not perished.

Dashboard

The only original cosmetic redesign of the Carrera was the dashboard, allowing for bigger air conditioning vents, this one looks good.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

Both are in good condition with no issues.

Mechanics

The 911 Carrera 3.2 featured some parts that were used in previous 911’s, such as, using the SC models bore dimensions and the 1978 Turbo’s crankshafts – the rest of the car was claimed to have been 80% new.

Engine and Gearbox

The 3.2L flat-6 engine achieved 207 hp when new with a top speed of 150 mph. The car was fitted with the brand new 5-speed gearbox at the time, sourced from Getrag.

Suspension and Brakes

There were no knocks or rattles on the drive out and we were treated with what a 911 is all about – that clean but mean driving experience.

The Drive

The car really drives great and we really enjoyed spending time in the passenger seat. We were impressed with how the car performed, even after resting for many years in a garage.

Electrics and Other

There are hardly any electrics on the car. Simon has informed us that the speedometer does not work but is going to get the dial repaired, at which point we shall provide documentation of this.

History and Paperwork

As mentioned, this 911 is the last of the original specifications before they started to receive a more modern approach to design and production. The car has been under the ownership of 6 former keepers prior to Simon’s ownership.

This RHD model does not have any documentation regarding the previous ownership however, Simon has informed us he is more than happy to answer any questions that you may want answers to regarding the 911.

Overall the car looks to have been enjoyed by previous owners with the mileage indicated below, and considering this it is in fairly good condition. The car has recently passed an MOT with no advisories at all.
