A comfortable GT that still has all the power and excitement of its sportier sibling, the potent Porsche 928 S4.

The 928 is a luxury grand tourer produced by Porsche between 1978 and 1995, originally intended to replace the companies iconic 911. It quickly became the top-of-the-line Porsche available at the time, and most of the executives at the marque believed such a flagship model would have a much wider appeal than its compact sibling.

This example is coming to market from 7 years ownership, in great condition with just ~45,000 miles recorded. Fitted with the original wheels, toolkit, tyre compressor and book pack, examples like this don't come to market very often.

Meet the owner

After seeing the listing for this 928, I knew this was the car for me, you can't beat the modern looks and torquey V8 under the hood.

David who has owned the car for the last 7 years, purchased the car from a very reputable classic dealership in 2014 after it caught his eye. Since the purchase, David used the car very sparingly, having only covered ~3,000 miles.

During his ownership, the car has seen regular MOTs and dry storage to keep it in the condition you see it today. The time he has taken the car out, he's thoroughly enjoyed every second, mentioning to us the car offered the perfect blend of power and luxurious cruising. Due to lack of use, David has decided to part with his beloved 928 S4. He will be more than happy to answer any of your questions in the comments below.

Arguably one of the greatest-looking cars the 80s brought us, the design has become a firm favourite amongst classic car lovers today.

Wheels and Tyres

This 928 S4 is fitted with original seven-slot alloys, all of which look in excellent condition. The wheels are wrapped in Bridgestone S-02's dated 2014 and just as you would expect for a well-cared example, they have a good amount of tread present.

Bodywork

The panel gaps look great on this 928 S4, with the shut lines for doors etc all looking great for an 80s classic. This example is also optioned with a sunroof.

On our visit, we didn't notice any corrosion to the exterior of the car. We have taken hi-resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the bodywork for yourselves.

Paint

The paintwork is finished to a very high standard, Porsche "Silver" (code L980). It is even in colour and finish across every panel, with a deep lustre throughout.

Glass and Trim

Both the glass and trim looks great on this S4, with no signs of cracks, chips or discolouration noted, the window rubbers look good too. The rear spoiler looks great in contrasting black.

Interior

Luxurious and ergonomic, expect nothing less with Porsche build quality, built to stand the test of time.

Seats and Carpets

Very attractive sports seats await the new custodian of this 928 S4. Finished in navy with cream inserts and pipping.

The seats look great in this grand tourer, with just some minor age related creases on the bolsters. The navy carpets also look great throughout with no major wear noted.

Dashboard

The dials, switch, and controls are well presented, with the instruments all said to be functional. The car has been fitted with a modern Blaupunkt stereo system.

The doors are finished in matching navy/cream contrast styling, and the carpets on the lower of the doors look in great condition too.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The 928 S4 is fitted with its original Porsche steering wheel and automatic gear shifter, both items appear in great condition.

Mechanics

The outstanding 32 valve, 320BHP, V8 is what the S4 is really all about.

Engine and Gearbox

With a top speed of 162MPH, the 928 S4 really packs a punch with its beating heart, a front-mounted 5.0L V8.

David reports both the engine and gearbox are smooth in operation. Please view the cold start video to see the car fire up the first time and take a closer look around the engine bay and see underneath the car.

Suspension and Brakes

The 928 has double wishbone, anti-roll bar front suspension, and multilink on the rear. These cars offer a more refined experience to the 911, a true luxury GT for Porsche.

David reports the suspension and brakes work well with no known issues to note.

The Drive

The "Land Shark" set a new standard in cornering and ABS braking, it's an iconic car in Porsche history and with its 5.0L V8 block under the hood. This is the example you'll want to take on your next continental road trip!

Electrics and Other

Fitted with various electrical features for entertainment and comfort. Such as pop-up headlights, an uprated Blaupunkt radio unit, and an electric sunroof. The standard security system was disabled on this car prior to David purchasing.

David reports all the electrics are working on the car to his knowledge.
