The 964 offers the perfect compromise between classic air-cooled function and a modern day driving experience.

Referred to as the 964 series, it was a natural evolution over its predecessor and despite similar visual cues, it was a considerable update that combined the character of the original with a modernised ‘90s acceptability. This included the shift over to coil springs and the notable addition of ABS. Options included the Tiptronic automatic transmission, like the one on sale here, and all-wheel drive for the first time. Its main feature, asides from the all-new bodywork and overhauled interior, was the new air-cooled engines. As a result, it’s often said that the 964 offers the perfect compromise between old and new Porsche.

All models are great to drive and boast the classic styling, which is why the demand for these cars becomes stronger which each passing year.

This particular example is coming to market fresh out of a 11 year ownership, in a popular colourways and with a good amount of history.

This auction listing was written from information supplied by Issac after meeting David the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

I've owned this car for over 11 years and enjoyed every minute with the car, however, the time has come to let go and find a new owner to take over.

David is a Porsche enthusiast and has really enjoyed his time with this lovely 964.

David first contacted us about a year ago when he was just thinking about selling - it's taken since then for him to properly make up his mind; not an easy decision. However, the car isn't being used as much as it once was, and so with that in mind, David has made the decision to pass the car on to a new enthusiast.

David will me more than happy to answer any questions you have in the comments below.

David saved £9,000* when they

The distinctive body coloured bumpers were both an evolution and step change from the previous 911 design.

Wheels and Tyres

Fitted with original Porsche Design 90 wheels and wearing Continental tyres all around - the stock look that really suits this Carrera 2.

The alloy wheels looks in really good condition across the car, difficult to find fault, and the fitted tyres also look in good condition across the car too.

The narrow body design, in coupe format like this example, is the silhouette that's familiar to all when it comes to the 911. Some design changes like colour coded bumpers took the car a step forward in terms of looks.

The bodywork is in really good condition with all shut lines looking good - again it's difficult for find fault. We have taken hi-resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the bodywork for yourselves.

The Midnight Blue paint, a classic Porsche colour, is in very good condition. Even in finish and colour across all the panels, there are some very minor stone chips on the front of the car, you need to be looking very very hard to spot any imperfections.

The images taken are from different angles and reflections to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. Please take the time to fully assess the condition.

Glass and Trim

All look excellent on this example, and David tells us a new windscreen has recently been fitted.

This is a car that has been well cared for in the correct manner over the years, and hence why the trim all looks great even to this day.

The interior underwent a subtle but welcome upgrade for the 964 series, but it still has that driver focused 911 feel.

Seats and Carpets

The seats and carpets are in good condition with just the expected wear that looks to be consistent with the mileage and age of the vehicle.

Please take a look at the interior photos to see the full condition.

The dashboard looks in good condition with no marks or issues when we photographed the car.

The dials are the classic arrangement we've come to love in a Porsche 911, rev counter in the centre, all of the instrument panel looks in good condition too.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The classic Porsche steering wheel is wrapped in black leather and looks in good condition.

The Tiptronic selector has just some small age related marks that you'd expect, so too does the handbrake level.

The 964 engine represented one of the biggest advances in Porsche history.

Engine and Gearbox

The iconic flat-six 3.6L engine in this car - it started first time from cold with no smoke observed and gave a good oil pressure reading of 3.5bar at 1k RPM - please watch the On the Road video to see this cold start in action.

You'll also see / hear the car going through the gears smoothly with a quick kick-down and responsive pick-up - again no issues were noted.

Suspension and Brakes

Coilover MacPherson struts were introduced in to the chassis set-up of the 911 with the Type 964 and the car also featured ABS for the first time.

David assures is there are no issues with the brakes and suspension - again, please watch the On the Road video to see more.

The Drive

247BHP pushed out from the engine to the rear wheels - a very good stat back in 1991 and still good today!

Please take time to watch the On the Road video to see the car being driven on a short run around the local area - the car performed without fault.

Electrics and Other

David informs us that everything is working just as you'd expect.

This car was optioned with air-conditioning too and David also tells us that the unit has been changed during his ownership, to make sure it functions well.

The radio have been changed for a more modern unit, however, the original radio is included in the sale.

History and Paperwork

The car comes with an excellent amount of service history, in a car with comparatively low mileage.

In summary, this is an original 964 coming out of a long ownership that's ready for a new owner to use and enjoy. Importantly there's a good amount of history with the car, as you can see in the media section.

Optional Extras: Blaupunkt Symphony Stereo, Rear Wiper, Amplifier, Graduated Top Tint, Climate Control, Sunroof, Tiptronic, On-Board Computer, Grey Carpets.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a HPi check on the vehicle.

Due to holiday commitments the car will be available to collect form 4th July.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment on the vehicle's condition.
Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bid/s, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.

Excellent, many thanks for the reply.

Hi David,
Has the car ever had any body work done, or been in any accidents?
some of the panel gaps watching the video look a bit odd… but perhaps that’s the video…? the driver’s door in the video doesn’t appear to close flush… could you confirm all ok..?

Good afternoon
I would just like to know if the engine has any oil leaks or if you think that at 100,000miles it may require attention?
Thank you
