Introduction

Dom Ginn
Professional Consigner

The 993, arguably the pinnacle of the air-cooled Porsche era - blending timeless design, thrilling performance, and modern refinement.

The Porsche 911 Carrera (993) represented a significant milestone in the legacy of the 911, bridging the gap between classic air-cooled charm and modern performance refinement. As the final generation of the air-cooled 911s, the 993 holds a special place in the hearts of Porsche enthusiasts and collectors alike.

Introduced in 1994, the 993 brought with it a host of technical advancements, including a newly designed multi-link rear suspension for improved handling and ride comfort, while retaining the unmistakable feel and sound of the flat-six engine.

Visually, it refined the iconic silhouette with sleeker bumpers, wider arches, and more aerodynamic lines, setting a new benchmark for style and performance. With exceptional build quality, robust engineering, and a more driver focused cabin than previous generations, the 993 is celebrated not just for how it drives, but for how well it has aged.

The car comes fresh from long ownership, and it's clear to see how well looked after it's been. Importantly it comes equipped with two sets of keys, original log book and drivers manual, plus a clean MOT valid until June 2026.

The 993 remains one of the most desirable 911s, offering a unique combination of analog engagement and Porsche precision.

This listing was written from information supplied by Dom after meeting Jeremy the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

Iconic shape and unmistakable sound - it’s a true drivers' car - I just love the character and soul of the 993.

Jeremy the current owner, has used the Porsche as an occasional car and takes it out on short trips around the local roads and into town.

As a lover of all things Porsche, Jeremy tells us more about his love for this model, "The thing I love most about my 993 is its performance, it just wants to cruise but equally comfortable in traffic, the beauty of its styling which is complemented by its colour combination, and its light and airy interior which has excellent all-round visibility. A great classic for modern driving conditions. After using it as my everyday car during our early years together, more recently it has been used as an occasional car yet I have conscientiously undertaken regular oil changes to maintain reliability and I now feel that it is time for a new owner to enjoy and appreciate it, as I have done. During my 22 years ownership my 993 has been stored in a dry and cool garage, under a dust cover, which will stay with the car. My 993 has been completely dependable during my total ownership, a pleasure to own and bought much joy".

Jeremy will be happy to answer any questions about the car in the comments section below.

Exterior

Wide arches, curvaceous lines, and iconic round headlights, the 993 captures the essence of classic Porsche design - refined, muscular, and unmistakably cool.

Wheels and Tyres

The fitted wheels are the Turbo style wheels, which were a factory optional extra.

Being picky, we did note a few signs of scuffing and curbing to the wheels - nothing too serious and they were refurbished in 2011.

The wheels are fitted with a full set of Pirelli P-Zero Rosso tyres. At the front, these show with a spec of 225/40 and date codes from 2008. To the rear, a spec of 265/35 and date codes from 2012.

All tyres show in good visual condition.

For a more detailed view of the 993's exterior and a closer inspection of the wheels and tyres, please refer to the photos and videos.

image

Bodywork

The car stands level, shut lines look good and we could see no visible distortion to the panels. Both doors and the boot open and close well, but the rear bonnet would benefit from its struts being replaced and both door straps could do with some attention.

Looking on the underside of the car, there were a few scuff marks where the Porsche sits lower on the road, as to be expected.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our hi-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view at what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

image

Paint

Looking over the 993, the car is in good condition with a lovely finish of Iris Blue. The colour looks to be an even match across the car.

Again, being picky, standing back from the car, the front bumper paint finish looked a little flat - bit nothing too serious.

There were a few signs of marking across the front bumper and bonnet of the car and sections where the paint was bubbling above the driver and passenger side roof trim edge. A couple of stone chips were observed over the panels with notes of touch up paint being applied.

Again, we have taken high resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the bodywork and paint for yourselves. The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please, take the time to fully assess these high resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

image

Glass and Trim

Overall the glass and trim on the Porsche showed with no major cause for concern. The top-tinted windscreen, side windows and rear window all show really well, with no significant scratching or marks. The seals look good around the outside and in line with the rest of the condition of the car.

The front and rear lights were showing signs of age with some fade noted. The Porsche is well set for sunny days out on the road, as it is fitted with a working sunroof.

We've taken you around the car in greater detail in our exterior review video, please take the time to look over the video and see how the glass and trim look from different perspectives.

Interior

Timeless, refined, and built for the road - pure driver-focused simplicity.

Seats and Carpets

The interior is a particular highlight as it's in lovely condition - it's clear to see the attention this car has received over the years - in recent times the driver's seat has been refreshed professionally, apart from that the interior is original and in exceptional condition, other than the odd minor blemish that will be easy to repair.

Both front seats are electronically adjustable and finished in light grey leather. Overall, these show in nice condition - there were signs of minor creasing to the leather mainly on the side bolster sections of the front seats but nothing out of the ordinary. The rear section shows little sign of use, showing well.

Carpets showed in a good state through the interior with no major marks, except for a cigarette burn on the passenger sill and a scuff on the driver's side 'B' pillar - the carpets are topped with black Porsche mats. The base carpet would benefit from a clean to bring back the quality of the lighter shade. In the front boot, the black carpeted area showed no concerns.

We've captured high-resolution photos and a full interior video tour through the car. This covers off the angles inside the car for you to review and appreciate the condition of what's on offer here in our interior review section.

image

Dashboard

The leather covered dashboard looks to be free from any splits and cracks and showed well on our visit. The clocks and dials showed nicely with ~106,600 miles shown at the time of our visit.

The display on these sections showed a lovely level of presentation and are all functional showing clearly with no obvious scratching to the facings.

Our interior gallery section takes you over some closer images of the Porsche dashboard, head over and see the car's interior in finer detail.

image

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

A classic Porsche 4-spoke steering wheel is finished in leather, and importantly controls for the Tiptronic gearbox - this is in great condition due to a past refurbishment.

The automatic gear selector also shows the same level of quality, both sections are straight forward in design and present smartly with only minor levels of wear noted.

image

Mechanics

The 993’s air-cooled flat-six is pure Porsche - smooth, responsive, and iconic as the last of its kind.

Engine and Gearbox

Starting up from cold, we noted no concerns here. The car idled smoothly and was easily capable of taking the driver up to speed in no time at all.

We noted no issues with any oil leaks looking under the car on our visit with the owner confirming the same over longer term storage.

The Tiptronic gearbox changes smoothly with no issues, and the 993 pulls strongly through the range. The Porsche had gearbox servicing completed in May 2020.

We took the car out around some local roads with the current owner to get a better feel for what this vehicle is all about. On the drive, we ran through the motions and got an overview from Jeremy's perspective on how the car performs.

Take a look over the video for yourselves to hear the Porsche start up from cold and take in the lovely sounds of the engine.

image

Suspension and Brakes

We noted no knocks, bangs or issues from the suspension when we were on the road in the car, and gave us no concerns in its performance or handling.

With drilled discs on each side, they felt great and had no pull or vibrations that stood out to us when on the journey and brought the car easily to a stop. Overall the car performed as to be expected with no observed issues.

Please take a look over the mechanical videos and photographs to see close-up images from under the car.

image

The Drive

The Carrera delivers thrilling performance with power to spare, yet remains practical enough for daily driving.

Whether carving through winding roads or cruising cross-country, it offers a rewarding experience with sharp handling and dependable power.

image

Electrics and Other

During our time with the car we noticed no electrical faults. All dashboard lights turned off when out on the road as expected, and all dials and gauges were functioning without issue.

Additional features fitted on the 993 include Active Brake Differential, 8-way electric seats, top-tinted windscreen, sports steering wheel, and a sunroof. The Porsche is fitted with air con although does need a re-gas as this was last serviced in 2022.

Jeremy let us know that he's had no issues with the electrical elements on the car, and that everything should be working correctly to the best of his knowledge.

History and Paperwork

Kept with the same owner for the last ~22 years, the Carrera has travelled fewer than ~1,000 miles in the last ~5 years and is well set for its next journey.

The Porsche comes complete with 2 sets of keys, original log book and drivers manual and a clean MOT valid until June 2026. A new battery was replaced in May 2025 and tiptronic servicing was completed in May 2020. Air conditioning works were carried out in 2011, 2014, 2015 and 2022 (although it needs re-gassing now).

The exhaust system was re-welded in 2011, along with service and restoration works including; engine seal and gasket replacement, renewal of engine bolts, wheel refurbishment, door strap welding, nearside and offside door seals, prep and paint of the front bumper and lower valance removing markings around the car. The alternator belt was replaced in 2009.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPI that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment on the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bid/s, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.

    Key Bidding Facts

    What is your reserve policy?

A reserve is the minimum price a seller is willing to accept for their vehicle. We work closely with sellers to set realistic reserves that reflect current market values — we don’t take on vehicles with inflated or unrealistic expectations.

If the reserve isn’t met when the auction ends, we’ll work with the highest bidder to try and agree a deal with the seller.

Whether the reserve has been met may / may not be disclosed during the auction — just like a traditional auction house. Bidders usually find out if they’ve won only when the auction ends.

    As a guide:
    – If you’re able to place a second bid, the reserve hasn’t been met.
    – If you attempt to outbid yourself and the system blocks it, then the reserve has been met.

Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.
