Introduction

Glyn Parry
Professional Consigner and Photographer

The last of the legendary air-cooled 911s, blending timeless design with thrilling performance - an icon that marks the end of an era.

The Porsche 911 Carrera (993) holds a very special place in Porsche history, often regarded as one of the finest 911s ever produced and a milestone in the marque’s evolution. As the last of the air-cooled generation, it represents the perfect balance between traditional Porsche character and modern refinement.

The 993 introduced a sleeker, more aerodynamic design while retaining the unmistakable 911 silhouette that enthusiasts have cherished for decades. Under the rear deck sits a 3.6-litre flat-six engine, delivering impressive power with a characterful soundtrack that has become legendary.

Paired with its precise handling, rear-wheel-drive layout, and a build quality that feels solid and purposeful, the 993 strikes a rare balance between everyday usability and exhilarating performance.

This example, with its auto Tiptronic gearbox, is a lovely well set car and with ~30 years of road experience, the car carries relatively low mileage and low ownership to match.

Valvoline oil servicing was carried out in December 2024 and in August 2023, along with a brake fluid change. Major servicing was completed in May 2022, minor servicing in July 2021 and gearbox servicing in February 2019.

This listing was written from information supplied by Glyn after meeting Suk the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

A lovely car that brings back some great driving nostalgia - it's a car I've always admired and have been proud to own.

The current owner Suk, has enjoyed his time with the car, but has travelled mainly only short distances with it, he said "It's been one of those cars that I've taken out at weekends or just for short spins into town and back. Every time I'm out in it though, I'm reminded of why I love Porsche so much".

Suk has decided it's time for a change up, and said, "Its actually one of my favourite cars I've had through my ownership, I think it's the feeling of the air cooled engine and being part of Porsche history that I love so much about it. But, I'm always on the look out for something else which is why I've decided to change again".

Should any further queries be needed on the car, Suk would be happy to answer these in the comments section below.

Exterior

Sleek, timeless, and instantly recognisable, the 993 boasts iconic curves, wide arches, and the last of the air-cooled silhouette.

Wheels and Tyres

The 17" 5-spoke alloy wheels, finished in silver all appeared to be in good overall condition. We noted some age-related marks and scuffs to the wheels, in keeping with the age of the Carrera, but otherwise, there were no major issues.

The 993 is fitted with Pirelli P-Zero tyres at the front showing 205/50 with date codes from 2014, and to the rear, Michelin Pilot Sport's showing 255/40 with date codes from 2017.

We did spot some signs of cracking to the finish of the front tyres, so it would be worth considering the change of these by the future owner.

Please take a look at the photos and videos for a detailed view of the exterior of the Carrera and a closer look at the wheels and tyres to make your own assessment of their condition.

Bodywork

The exterior is nicely presented and the panels are flush to the body with positive shut lines. Both doors, bonnet and boot open and close with ease.

We spotted a couple of areas of note, with blistering to the boot edge, skuttle, and some marks to the front bonnet panel above the main badge. There was also a note of scuffing to the base of the underside here due to its lower road stance.

We've highlighted our observations in more detail through our hi-resolution images and videos, so please take the time to look through all the media files for a detailed view of what’s on offer and to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

Paint

The paintwork on the car has good coverage and overall quality across the panels, finished in a really classic colour of 'Midnight Blue Metallic' (L39C).

We did note that there were a few slight hairline scratches including the driver's side door and to the rear quarter. There was also a scuff to the rear passenger side lower quarter panel.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there yourself. Please take the time to fully assess these high-resolution images and videos of the car to form your own opinion about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

The side and rear windows all displayed well although there was a small stone chip on the windscreen. Front lights appear in good condition, although the rear passenger side light had a crack showing.

The interior headlining of the cabin had some marks to the finish and to the outside, the roof showed well.

We didn't note any issues on the seals on the exterior and these areas showed to be in-line with the condition of the rest of the car.

To the interior, door cards showed in respectable condition, there were marks and wear on the door edge trim and a small area of damage to the rear passenger interior trim.

Take a look through the exterior gallery and review video. We take you across all areas of the car as if you were standing there yourself. This way, you can see in greater detail how the car is presented.

Interior

A perfect balance of driver-focused design and refined comfort - classic analogue dials, premium materials, and that unmistakable 911 layout.

Seats and Carpets

The Porsche is kitted out with grey leather seats - they show in respectable condition, but there were a few areas of wear to the driver's bolster and passenger seat base. To the rear of the cabin, there were no real concerns.

The car is fitted with grey floor mats. The carpet areas in the cabin and front boot are also in good condition but would benefit from a clean over. We found no major issues when looking underneath the floor mats, although there were signs of the underfloor finish cracking.

We've captured high-resolution photos and a full interior video tour through the car. This covers off the angles inside the car for you to review and appreciate what's on offer here in our interior review section

Dashboard

The grey dashboard appears in great shape with no cracks or scratches to report. The mileage counter showed ~80,960 miles at the time of our visit.

The display area of the black dials and gauges is clear and without concern, with the classic 911 five-gauge setup looking very smart.

All dials are functional, showing clearly with no obvious marking or scratching to the facings across the driver's section.

Our interior gallery section offers some closer images of the Porsche dashboard—head over and see the car's interior in finer detail.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

Finished in leather, the steering wheel is in reasonable condition, there were signs of wear to the edges and centre and would benefit from some attention to the finish.

The auto gear selector showed well and without major concern, just a few notes of age. The Tiptronic buttons showed some wear, but were fully functional. The handbrake showed well and without concern.

We've detailed more images of the cabin area, including the steering wheel, in our Interior Gallery section—head over to see more shots of what the Carrera has to offer.

Mechanics

At the heart of the Porsche lies a 3.6L flat-six engine, producing ~272 BHP and a 0–60 MPH in ~6.4 seconds from factory - classic air-cooled performance at its finest.

Engine and Gearbox

Starting up the car, we noted no concerns. The Porsche performed without issue while running and out on the road and we saw no issues or signs of smoke.

The Tiptronic auto gearbox worked well on the road, with no unwanted noises from the functionality of the car. The 993 showed no concerns regarding its performance while we were driving out in it.

We took the car out on some local roads to get a better feel for what this vehicle is all about. During the drive, we ran through the motions, taking the Carrera through the gears and filmed our overview on how the car performed.

Suspension and Brakes

We noted no knocks, bangs or other issues from the suspension when we were on the road, and it gave us no concerns in its performance or handling.

The brakes felt to have no pull or vibrations that stood out to us when on the journey, and brought the car to a stop without a problem and with the kind of stopping power you'd expect.

Please take a look over the mechanical videos and photographs to see close-up images from under the car.

The Drive

The driving experience of the 993 is nothing short of iconic. The last of the air-cooled 911s, it delivers a raw yet refined connection to the road, with precise steering, balanced handling, and the unmistakable soundtrack of its flat-six engine.

Every journey feels engaging and rewarding, whether carving through twisting roads or cruising at speed, making the Carrera a true driver’s car and a standout in Porsche’s history.

Electrics and Other

The optional equipment codes, detailed in the servicing book, note that the Porsche includes: (249) Tiptronic transmission, 4-speed (398) 17" wheels, (425) Rear window wiper, (432) Tiptronic buttons for steering wheel, (567) Top-tinted windscreen, (573) Air conditioner, (650) Sun-moon-roof and (659) Board computer.

The car is equipped with an original Blaupunkt stereo, although we weren't able to get this working on our visit to the car. There was a button missing next to the fan blower function controls, although we confirmed the fans were working out on our drive but would likely benefit from a re-gas.

Suk told us that he has had no other issues with the electrical elements on the car. All switches and gauges appear to be in good condition considering the Porsche's ~30 years on the road.

History and Paperwork

16 previous service stamps, December 2024 servicing and a Tiptronic setup - a well set Porsche, ready to go for its future owner.

A Valvoline oil service and repair for a split in the washer jet hose was carried out in December 2024 with works costing ~£247, Valvoline oil servicing was also actioned in August 2023, along with a brake fluid change.

Major servicing was completed in May 2022 and included oil and oil filter update, air, pollen and fuel filter and spark plug change. Minor servicing was carried out in July 2021 as well as driver's door card fixing, fitment of an exhaust silencer strap and bolt and fitment of a pair of front bump stops. Gearbox servicing was actioned in February 2019.

We cover the history of the Porsche in our paperwork gallery. Take a look over the previous servicing records and MOT certificates to see more behind the Carrera.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPI that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment on the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bid/s, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.
