The 911 is one of the world's greatest sports cars and here we have an investor quality car that's covered just 33,816 miles and of course a manual.

The 996 911 replaced the 993 in '97 with a more curvaceous, spacious, and aerodynamic body, the car saw the introduction of a new rear water-cooled engine - This example is fitted with the larger 3.6-litre offering the driver 320bhp of naturally aspirated goodness to tap into.

The introduction of the 996 hauled the 911 into the modern era, in 2001 we saw even more revision with new headlamps, revised steering and suspension, along with interior upgrades. This convertible version was amended and gained a rear glass window.

This Guards Red example has been in Jeremy's careful hands for the past 18 years, he really enjoyed his ownership and kept the car highly original, this 911 only shows ~33,816 on the clock and has all the specialist Porsche history and provenance to back it up.

I'm a big Porsche fan and this 996 will always be a favourite of mine as I've owned it for nearly 20 years - incredible engineering and styling.

Jeremy is a big petrolhead and has really enjoyed his Porsche 996 ownership, over the past 18 years, and he's reserved the car for weekend use only - therefore the car has only seen a limited ~33k miles over the past 20 years.

Due to lack of use, Jeremy has decided to part with the car - it's highly original and has always had it attended to by Porsche specialists when work has been required.

Exterior

Redesigned by Pinky Lai, with smoother lines, a pushed-back windscreen, while importantly keeping the iconic 911 silhouette.

Wheels and Tyres

This 996 911 is fitted with 18" Carrera 5-spoke wheels from factory and are fitted with Michelin Pilot Sports which have a good amount of tread present and dated 2006 at the front and 2012 / 2014 at the rear.

The wheels do show some minor signs of curbing in some areas and would therefore benefit from a refurbishment.

Bodywork

The bodywork on this 911 looks to be in great condition across each panel. There appears to be no obvious signs of corrosion or dents to the panels, and the panel gap / shut-lines all look great across the car - just as you would expect from such a little used car.

The only area we did notice while taking pictures was some very slight marks on the edge of the passenger door.

We have taken hi-resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the bodywork for yourselves.

Paint

Finished in classic Guards Red, this 996 911 really does look the part and a refreshing change from the very popular silver at the time. The paint has an excellent lustre and colour to it, even across each panel, and just shows how well Jeremy has cared for it.

Again, please take time to review all the images and videos showing the paint from different angles and reflections, to assess the condition for yourselves.

Glass and Trim

All in great condition across the car. The trim and glass look the part with no major signs of damage, cracks, or chips noticed. Clear and crisp lenses to the lights, and the grills in similarly great condition; all looking in line with the age and mileage of the car.

Interior

A performance-focused interior with oodles of cabin space wrapped in luxurious long-lasting leather.

Seats and Carpets

Black leather sports seats are fitted inside the cabin and both appear in good condition. There is some slight wear, as you might expect, but no major damage to note.

The carpet and convertible roof lining also appear in good condition throughout.

The front seatbacks, rear seats and door cards are showing some light wear throughout.

Dashboard

The dashboard and centre console are in great order throughout. The switchgear looks good, with no reported issues with any of their function. The dials are very legible with no notable glass or binnacle damage.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

Both are original items that look and feel in great condition in line with their age and mileage.

Mechanics

A refined and powerful 3.6-litre naturally aspirated water-cooled block delivers an incredible ~320bhp to the rear wheels.

Engine and Gearbox

The revised model saw the introduction of the enlarged 3.6L integrated dry-sump engine - it could hit 62mph in 4.9 seconds and would top out at 178mph, very impressive figures.

Jeremy reports the engine and gearbox are very smooth, offering prompt power delivery. He reports never having any major work carried out only yearly services by Porsche specialist - Porsche Strasse since 2008.

As you can see from the cold start video, the Carrera fires up at the first turn of the key and sounds great - we took the car for a drive around the block which shows it swiftly working its way up and down the gearbox without fault.

Suspension and Brakes

Fitted with revised suspension, the car offers high-performance handling providing the driver with a great amount of feedback as well.

Jeremy reports no unusual knocks or noises coming from this 996, and also reports good handling along with prompt stopping power from the breaks.

The Drive

The car that sets the bar for all other sports cars, the 911 is a performer and offers a great amount of feedback, giving you all the confidence to tackle any corner you chuck it into, while not disappointing on the straights either.

Being a highly original second generation with low mileage, we think it's a great usable classic with excellent investment potential.

Electrics and Other

Fitted with its original Porsche CDR22 head unit, this 911 is fully equipped to give you a comfortable and enjoyable ride wherever you decide to venture.

The car is also sold with its Guards Red hard top as well, which presents in great condition and can be seen in the exterior photographs.

History and Paperwork

This is one very well cared for low mileage example of a 996 Carrera, ready for its new custodian.

The 996 comes with a good amount of documentation together with a well-stamped service book - to back up the low miles this car has covered. The most recent service was carried out around ~1,000 miles ago and ever since 2008 Jeremy has made sure to have any work carried out by Porsche Strasse.

We think this could be a great investment car and one to make a few small improvements to, e.g. have the wheels refurbished, looks at improving the door cars / seat backs and give the car a deep detail.

Importantly the Guard Red hard top is also included within the sale.

Hi. The last major service was in August 2018 new discs and pads, 2 rear caliper pipes, exhaust sleeve bolts. There were minor services in 2019 2020 and 2021 (even though it seems that Strasse may have not stamped the book in 2021 but I don’t have it with me).

not a traditional Porsche follower so please excuse my ignorance .obviously research always highlights the ims bearing issue on this model . I’m guessing that becuase of the of the low milage this hasnt been addressed ? would appreciate your thoughts before i start bidding . kind regards
