Introduction

Paul Wright
Professional Consigner

Arguably the best value two-seater on the market - its affordable, engaging to drive, and the 'S' is an all-round great choice.

The Porsche Boxster S carries forward Porsche’s rich history of crafting world-class sports cars. Introduced in the late 1990s, the Boxster brought Porsche's signature performance to a more accessible roadster format while paying homage to the iconic mid-engine layout of classic models like the Porsche 550 Spyder. The Boxster S, however, elevated this platform, standing out for its enhanced power and sportier features, making it a serious contender among Porsche’s line-up.

What makes the Boxster S truly stand out is how it delivers Porsche’s signature driving dynamics in a convertible package, allowing enthusiasts to enjoy the road with the top down. With a lightweight chassis, near-perfect weight distribution, and features like Porsche Stability Management (PSM), it offers an engaging and exhilarating experience while retaining the everyday practicality and style that Porsche is known for.

With just over ~67,000 miles and only 3 previous keepers, this desirable 'Seal Grey' Boxster S is going to make the perfect companion just in time for the warmer months. It comes with a current MOT which is valid until 30.09.26

This listing was written from information supplied by Paul after meeting Steve the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

I’ve owned a few Porsches over the years - such fantastic cars.

Steve is no stranger to Porsche ownership, having owned several over the years, from 924s to Boxsters - now he wants to move to a 911, which is the reason for parting with the now-classic Boxster S.

Steve will be happy to answer any questions in the comments section below.

Exterior

From the front, it’s has the same face as a 911 (996), which flows to a sleek rear end that is equally as beautiful.

Wheels and Tyres

The original five-spoke wheels have some light signs of corrosion in a couple of places. However, these could easily be refurbished by your local wheel specialist.

All the tyres have plenty of tread remaining, especially one of the rears, as this has recently been replaced due to a puncture.

Please take time to review the photos and videos for a detailed view of the exterior, wheels and tyres so you can make your own assessment of their condition. Tyres are a key safety item, and you should consider replacing any that are cracked, perished, unevenly worn, or over 10 years old.

Bodywork

Walking around the Boxster, the panels align as you would expect, with visually even gaps. There are a couple of minor dings in places which we think should be able to be removed by a paintless dent removal specialist.

We’ve highlighted our observations in more detail through our high-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view of what’s on offer and to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

Paint

Finished in the desirable 'Seal Grey', the paintwork presents well with no obvious areas of concern.

The passenger-side mirror paint has crazed across the top, and there may be the odd chip here and there, but these look in keeping with the age.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there yourself. Please take the time to fully assess these high-resolution images and videos of the car to make up your own mind about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

The windows on the Boxster are in good order with no excessive scratches to mention.

Being picky, the fabric roof would benefit from a deep clean, and the plastic window has clouded ever so slightly.

The headlights are free from damage; they have yellowed slightly but could be brought back to life with the use of a headlight restoration kit, which are readily available.

Interior

A full black leather interior is the perfect choice to complement the 'Seal Grey' exterior.

Seats and Carpets

The black leather electric seats are in good condition, with no damage apart from some typical minor colour wear to the driver’s bolster.

The carpets are in good condition throughout; there is also a set of Porsche factory mats fitted. The driver’s mat does have some wear in keeping with the age, but could easily be replaced.

Inside the boot, the space-saver spare wheel is present.

Dashboard

The dashboard is in good condition, and the instruments are working as they should.

There is a fault showing on the airbag, which has not been investigated, and the mileage reads ~67,930 miles at the time of our visit.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The original leather steering wheel is in good condition.

The gear knob has some light wear in keeping with the age.

Mechanics

German-engineered 3.2 litres of pure flat-six bliss.

Engine and Gearbox

The Boxster fires up without hesitation and comes to a smooth idle.

It runs with no issues reported and pulls strongly through the six-speed gearbox, which has a smooth change and allows the gears to be easily selected.

Suspension and Brakes

On the road, the Boxster handles superbly; no knocks or bangs can be heard from any corner, even when going over speed bumps in an urban environment.

The brakes look in good order with no obvious signs of excessive wear to the discs. These bring the car to a stop in a straight line with no juddering through the pedal.

The Drive

If you’re looking for what is now a classic sports car experience centred on precision and balance, the Boxster S is the perfect place to start.

Its mid-engine layout gives it sharp handling and excellent road feel, making corners especially rewarding, while the 3.2-litre flat-six delivers a distinctive, throaty sound.

The steering is direct and communicative, and with the top down, the car feels lively, immersive and, quite simply, great fun to drive.

Electrics and Other

Inside the Boxster, everything is in original condition, including the factory head unit, and it presents well with no real signs of age or wear to the buttons.

The only thing we did notice is the air conditioning doesn’t blow as cold as it once did - this didn’t bother Steve or the previous keeper, as the car was generally used with the roof off.

History and Paperwork

With all the handbooks, service book and two keys, the Boxster S is ready for its new home.

The service book shows eight service stamps and an additional four which don’t have a stamp; plus, there are also stamps for brake fluid changes and long-life condition.

The current MOT is valid until 30.09.26, and there are two working keys and an additional fob, but with no key blade.

A great piece of German engineering, perfect for the summer months which are fast approaching. Will you be the one to treat yourself for summer?

Any reason why the MOT was skipped in Nov 2019 with a 7 month gap until June 2020?

At this mileage I would expect the Intermediate Shaft bearing (IMS) to have been replaced along with the clutch, can you confirm? If this hasn’t been done (or you don’t know) this means a 2k job remains to be done on this car and that’s a significant additional cost for a buyer. If the IMS bearing fails it can destrol the engine resulting in an engine replacement (£8k-£15k job)!!

In regards to the airbags light, is the carpet under the passengers seat dry/damp?

Hello, are there any evidence of clutch, RMS/IMS replacement or any othe major work done on the car other than what’s visible in pictures?

Morning, just wondering what the reason is for the short ownership?
