The Porsche 911 GT3 (996.2) is a bonafide modern classic and track legend, 375 BHP from that naturally aspirated Mezger flat 6.

First introduced to the world in 1999, the GT3 was the most track focused road car available from Porsche, and also the most powerful naturally aspirated one. They stripped the weight and set the chassis up in a track but road legal spec. This being a 996.2 comes with the drivetrain pushing out an extra 20BHP and bigger brakes to help control the car.

Forget about high-mileage, driven-hard examples, this we think is one of the best on the market... Regular servicing, low mileage, in excellent condition and specification; a perfect fast road or track car, or something for that rare low mileage Porsche collection.

As much as I love this car, its track inspired ride has meant my wife rarely wants to take a trip with me in it!

A car collector, Colin has a range of performance cars from "Fast Fords" through to "RS Audi's". He's had a number of Porsche 911's in his collection, both air-cooled and more modern water-cooled like this low mileage example.

As he mentions above, the car is definitely an amazing drive, but from a practical standpoint he hasn't had the chance to enjoy it as much as he'd like. As with his other cars, he's taken great care in the storage and maintenance, and this one had a fresh service with the local OPC (Porsche Aberdeen) just completed for the new owner.

Exterior

Lower ride height, GT3 wheels, downforce improvements from the front bumper and rear spoiler; a road legal precision sports car.

Wheels and Tyres

The car has Porsche original GT3 wheels that are wrapped in Continental Sport Contact 2 tyres with excellent tread, complementing the stance of the 996.2 GT3.

Bodywork

As you would expect from a low mileage example that has been meticulous owned the bodywork is in excellent condition.

All panel gaps look correct and tight, and no signs of corrosion was observed. The only imperfection we spotted was what appeared to be a small area of stress on the lower nearside bumper/splitter, a common issue with these cars. Take a look through all the pictures and videos for the detailed view.

Paint

Finished in black, the car looks stunning, a real presence on the roads. The paint is in excellent condition, deep in finish and colour and even across all the panels.

Colin informs us that it's his understanding the car hasn't had any remedial work on the paint, and so in line with the mileage you'll notice just a couple of small stone chips on the front end of the car, watch the video review for the detail.

Glass and Trim

The revised Gen 2 headlights look crisp and photographed beautifully. They are free from any signs of fogging and discolouration.

Overall in excellent condition in line with the rest of the car, all the trim/seals look great too with no signs of damage/degradation.

Interior

What a place to be, lightweight racing bucket seats a steering wheel and manual gearstick... what more do you need?

Seats and Carpets

Lightweight carbon fibre backed racking seats with the Porsche emblem embossed into the fine black leather really look the part. We really like the cockpit in the GT3; stripped back to the bare essentials, the red seat belts are a nice optional contrasting touch.

In excellent condition in line with the rest of the car. Please look at the images videos for a more detailed view.

Dashboard

We love the layout of this dashboard, traditional Porsche dials where everything is very accessible in your eye line. Crisp dials with legible numbers everywhere you look.

This cabin is about minimalism focused around the driving experience, and the black on black colour scheme, with the odd silver contrasting detail in the centre console and door cards carries this theme on. Everything has been very well preserved through the cars use, watch the video review.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

A simple 3 spoke steering wheel and manual gearstick to control the car. Both in very good condition and in line with the age/mileage of the car. You'll sometimes see on higher mileage cars the gearstick suffers from scratching, not on this one.

Other elements in the cabin like the handbrake, with GT3 decal, also present in excellent condition. Take a look through the extensive photos to see the detail.

Mechanics

A Mezger flat 6 and uprated 6 speed manual gearbox from the 993 GT2, the 911 GT3 has a proper race derived drivetrain.

Engine and Gearbox

A flat 6 derived from the GT1 race car, the water-cooled 3.6L Mezger Flat-6 engine, made using elements like titanium con rods; proper race engine pedigree.

Only one gearbox offered in the GT3, the 6-speed manual derived from the 993 GT2 car, this keeps weight down and puts the driver in full control of shifts along with the rest of the car.

The car is started from cold with no issues, and sounded raspy like you'd expect. The car has had a fresh service with the Porsche Centre Aberdeen, so that the new owner can drive away with that extra peace of mind.

Suspension and Brakes

Fitted with 6-piston callipers on the front and 4-piston on the back, this car is as good at stopping as it is at going fast.

We are assured by the seller driving the car offers no abnormal sounds from these parts. Red brake callipers and clean discs look great on this low mileage example.

The Drive

This car was built to race, you'll get lots of feedback from driving the GT3, the car constantly telling you what’s going on under the wheels. If you were lucky enough to buy one of these new from Porsche, they'd invite you to a track day and teach you how to get the most out of the handling of the car.

A firm drive that will put you in control, a bit too firm for Colin's missus though.

Electrics and Other

Porsche only keeps the essentials here, a basic radio with air-condition fitted on this example, if your looking for luxury mod cons this isn't the car for you, this is a track-focused sports car.

History and Paperwork

Coming out of 8 years ownership, low mileage with a full service history, black on black colourway, fresh OPC service; a very, very good example on the market.

Professionally stored, used occasionally (~1,000 miles in Colin's ownership) and serviced example is hard to come by nowadays.
There is a great level of paperwork regarding MOTs and SORN dates etc, as well as a fully stamped service book.

Colin as gone the extra mile, having the car serviced by the Official Porsche Centre Aberdeen for peace of mind for the new owner.

Sorry I don’t have an over rev report. The service was carried out yesterday, and just had it transported back to my house today.

I have sent a copy of invoice to trade classics to upload to the listing.

Hi Colin, nice looking car. Have you had any items replaced during your ownership, eg brake discs, clutch, shock absorbers, front water or aircon radiators, suspension wishbones etc.?

Hi,

During my ownership I’ve only had it serviced.

I have done very little miles in it as it’s just been sat in my collection under cover.

If I remember from memory the previous owner had the front rads changed just before I purchased it.

In the history file there has been shockers replaced at some point, no mention of clutch.
