The Porsche 911, a benchmark for every other performance sports car - with 414BHP on tap, the Turbo model is formula that's hard to beat.

The 996 Turbo first arrived in 2000 at the top of the 911 lineup. Fitted with a 3.6L flat-six, this turbo model offered 120bhp more than the Carrera's, along with a wider body and track, and that pronounced rear wing.

It was such a hit when it launched, Porsche increased production in the first year from 2500 to 4000 cars. The 996 Turbo offers supercar performance with a strong reputation of reliability, making this a very practical sports car.

We really like this example; low mileage, black on black colour scheme, manual, coupe with sunroof. A winning combination. It has been well kept and maintained by the previous owner, and being a stock example coming out of 13 years of ownership, we think it's a great buy.

Exterior

The unmistakeable 911 silhouette with enhanced wide-body styling and pronounced rear wing, the 996 looks are definitely maturing the right way.

Wheels and Tyres

Large 18" turbo alloys fitted on this fine example, we think they really compliment the stance of the 996. Pirelli P-zeros wrap the large alloys, all in great condition with a good amount of tread left for the new owner.

The wheels are in great, non-curbed condition. We only found a few typical marks on the Turbo centre caps, take a look at the photos and videos to see for yourself.

Bodywork

As you would expect from a meticulously owned example, the bodywork is in excellent condition.

All panel gaps look correct and tight, and no signs of corrosion were observed. The only imperfections we notice was a small dent on the bonnet and some scratches to the lower plastic front splitter, both can be reviewed in the detailed exterior videos and photos of the car.

Paint

Finished in black, this turbo looks great. The paint is deep in finish and colour and even across all the panels.

Combined with the black leather interior, this was the right colour combo, it's timeless. All the paint looks in excellent condition, please view the images and videos for an in-depth view of this example.

Glass and Trim

Being a Turbo from 2004, this model featured the revised Gen 2 headlights that look crisp, free from any discolouration or fogging.

Overall in excellent condition inline with the rest of the car, all the trim/seals look great too with no signs of damage/degradation.

A luxurious cabin with a performance-focused layout assures you, this is a serious supercar.

Seats and Carpets

Black leather seats, carpets and door cards found on this example, simple yet timeless. We love the optional sporty red seat belts also fitted - all in great condition inline with the rest of the car.

We did notice some minor wear to the driver seat bolsters - this is common for these seats and looks to be in line with the usage of the car over time. Please look at the images and videos for a more detailed view.

Dashboard

A clean and organised layout from years of racing experience. We love the traditional Porsche dials - very crisp numbers and gauges found here.

The black dials match the colour scheme of the car and all the white digits are clear and very legible. Please take a look at the images and videos to see the dashboard up close.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

A classic Porsche 996 steering wheel and 6-Speed gear stick found in this example. The steering wheel is buttonless with a driver focus, distraction-free design.

This steering wheel is in excellent condition and the gear stick has a few marks from use with a ring. Take a look through the extensive photos and videos to see the detail up close.

Mechanics

A roaring flat-six block fills this engine bay and the twin-turbos give an extra 120BHP from the base Carrera - that's a lot of extra power and at your disposal.

Engine and Gearbox

Powered by a water-cooled twin-turbocharged and intercooled 3.6-litre flat-6 engine, derived from the Le Mans-winning 911 GT1 race car; Mezger at his best.

Please view the video of the car being started from cold with no issues. The car has had a fresh service this week (07.11.2020) so that the new owner can drive away with that extra peace of mind.

Importantly, this car is a manual example, a 6 speed gearbox to give you that authentic 911 experience.

Suspension and Brakes

The 996's were fitted with multi-link rear suspension taken from its predecessor the 993. This saved costs and the suspension already being bang on - hence not needed to improve.

We love the look of the distinctive red Porsche callipers and drilled brake discs found on this example. We are assured by Niraj, driving the car offers no abnormal sounds from these parts, and they work just as intended.

The Drive

It's all about the drive with these cars, being the benchmark setter for all sports cars, Porsche has delivered again and again - the 996 is no different.

A car born to race, yet road legal - you can't get better than a 996 Turbo. The car will give you lots of feedback and handle any corner you throw at it, while not disappointing on the straights either.

Electrics and Other

Revolutionary electronics for 2004, this example comes with a PCM sat-nav and entertainment system (sadly the UK map disc is damaged and needs replacing). This car is all original, we love to see an unaltered example.

The car also comes with an electronically adjustable rear spoiler which rises at the touch of a button or 76mph and lowers automatically at 36mph. Niraj assures us all the electrics on this example work.

Coming out of 13 years of ownership with a nice healthy chunk of genuine service history, black on black colourway, and stock specification; a very nice 911 Turbo.

There is a great level of paperwork with this example - MOT documentation as well as a fully stamped service book. Niraj has gone the extra mile, having the car serviced by a Porsche specialist garage so the new owner can have peace of mind.

Good afternoon James
While the car has been in my possession
Back in 2009 a vehicle reversed into the front bumper while my car was parked causing scratching and leaving a gash in the bumper.
I had the bumper replaced and sprayed via the insurance claim from a professional body shop.
Apart from that no other bodywork or has been carried out on the vehicle.
Regarding the stone chips there is little or none on the vehicle as you can see from the videos

Was the IMS braring ever changed ? Has any of the suspension parts been replaced ?

Hi Taimur

you may not be aware that the 996 turbo engine is based on the GT1 race car, and so doesn’t suffer from IMS bearing issues like the standard 996 engines
