Introduction

Isaac
Professional Consignor

The 997 Turbo is one of Porsche’s greatest hits of the early 21st century, with ~475BHP delivered directly to all 4 wheels.

Following on from the 996 Turbo the fifth generation, known as the 997, arrived in 2005. Representing a significant relaunch of the 911 model, the styling was universally praised and was only improved further by the introduction of the Turbo. It naturally adopted the more aggressive stance of past Turbo models and was powered by a variation of the race-derived 3.6-litre engine. With around ~475BHP of power being managed by two turbochargers through all four wheels, the 997’s all-round ability made this rocket ship not only exhilarating to drive but was also civilised when it needed to be.

This 2007 first generation 997 Turbo has been well specified from new, boasting the optional Sport Chrono Plus (640) package with the 5-speed Tiptronic S transmission. Finished in "Atlas Grey Metallic", with a full red leather interior, it has covered ~58,700 miles from new and has been in the ownership of current owner since 2018.

This listing was written from information supplied by Isaac after meeting Kaiser the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

Coming from the 996 Turbo the difference in handling is night and day, the 997 is arguably the perfect sports car.

Kaiser is a long term Porsche fan, having come from the older 996 Turbo directly to his 997 Turbo. When speaking with Kaiser about the car you can tell he’s a Porsche man through and through, talking in depth about the subtle yet important differences in the 997 compared to the 996, such as improved handling and stability in the corners and sleeker design aesthetic.

Sadly Kaiser now spends a lot of his time overseas and has not driven the car like it deserves for nearly a year, during which time the car has been garaged, and as much as he loves the car he’d rather it be driven, enjoyed, and looked after by someone with the time to do so. He will be happy to answer any questions about the car in the comments section below.

Exterior

With the iconic and instantly recognisable 911 silhouette and headlights, the wide stance, and aggressive aero styling the 997 represents an overall return to form for the Porsche design team.

Wheels and Tyres

The 19" 5 spoke alloy wheels are in good condition, with only one minor mark on one of the wheels, otherwise they are free of any visible damage or tarnishing to the finish.

The wheels are wearing a mixture of value brand tyres which appear to be in good condition also, with no damage to any of the sidewalls and a good amount of tread left on all four corners.

Bodywork

The bodywork overall looks to be in good condition, shut lines and panel gaps all look to be correct across the car. There is a very small dent to the top of the nearside front wing and a barely visible ripple on the opposing wing, possibly a sign of previous repairs, however Kaiser has not had any bodywork done during his ownership and the paperwork reflects no such work having been carried out in the past.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our high resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view at what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

Paint

The "Atlas Grey Metallic" paintwork is in good condition for the most part, save for a few light stone chips on the front end. The bonnet, wings, and front bumper do look to have been repainted at some point in the cars history with some visible texture difference between the areas in question and the rest of the car, however this is only visible under close inspection.

Again, we have taken high resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the bodywork for yourselves. The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these high resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

The glass on the car looks to be in good condition, with no stone chips, cracks, or scratches to be found on any of the windows. Likewise the trim pieces all look to be in good condition also with no damaged trim or window seals.

Interior

While Porsche have always given their cabins a luxury feel, the 997 definitely feels like a step up in terms of class over its predecessors.

Seats and Carpets

The red leather upholstery looks to be in good condition, with only the drivers seat showing any signs of wear in line with age/use in the usual places as can be seen in our interior gallery. The seats are optioned with the Porsche crests embossed in the headrests.

Likewise the carpets are in good condition, with the car rarely being used by anyone other than Kaiser the footwells in the rear are as new.

Dashboard

The black leather dashboard is in good condition, with no visible damage to any of the switchgear or plastic trim pieces. The red leather surrounds for the centre console are also in good condition with no signs of damage.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The steering wheel is in good overall condition however it does suffer form the visible airbag seam as with a lot of the 997 steering wheels. Otherwise the steering wheel is free from any physical damage and looks to be in good order, optioned with the controls for the Tiptronic gearbox.

Likewise the automatic gear selector is in good condition, with the carbon inlay being free of any damage or delamination.

Mechanics

Thanks to its 3.6L twin-turbocharged engine capable of producing ~475BHP, the 997 turbo is capable of accelerating from 0-60mph in just ~3.7 seconds.

Engine and Gearbox

We didn't get to do our normal cold start, as the cars battery is low and had been running to get some charge in to it, however the engine did perform without fault during our time with the car - this can be seen during our ‘On The Road’ video.

The Tiptronic gearbox also performed without and noticeable faults and with no hesitation when changing gears.

Suspension and Brakes

There were no issues with the running gear during our time with the car and the suspension was firm but adequately forgiving too. As a result, the ride comfort is surprisingly good.

No untoward noises or creaking were observed as the car negotiated the back roads and the brakes stopped the car quickly and efficiently.

The Drive

Described by many as the perfect sports tourer, the 911 Turbo is up there with the best, with the numerous driver aids like the slick Tiptronic gearbox, park assist, assisted steering and brakes, the car can be very docile and make for a great every day driver too.

However once the car hits the open road you get a glimpse of the reason Porsche designed the 911 Turbo, the fast, focused, and exhilarating experience the 997 provides is second to none.

Electrics and Other

Coming with the Sport Chrono Plus option, as well as sunroof, park assist, seat heating, and the car is optioned with the multi-function steering wheel with Tiptronic control buttons all of which function as expected.

History and Paperwork

This 997 Turbo has had just four owners, comes with only ~58,700 miles on the clock, and was last serviced less than 100 miles ago.

Coming from ~5 year ownership with Kaiser, this 997 Turbo has had only 4 former keepers, and has been serviced every other year. It comes with the original book pack, stamped service book, and invoices detailing works over time.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a HPi check on the vehicle.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in high resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment on the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bid/s, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.
