The top of the range Boxster is now as quick as the previous generation 911, thanks to the uprated 295BHP 3.4L flat-six.

This is the second-gen Boxster S which debuted at the 2004 Paris Motor Show. With revised styling including headlights, larger side intakes, enlarged wheel arches, interior revisions, and a more powerful engine. It was a big jump forward for the model.

With its perfectly weighted steering, the Boxster S is a true delight to drive, while the equally balanced chassis lets you know exactly what's going on with the road. When lowering the roof, the Boxster doesn't lose any of its rigidity, making it ideal for cruising in comfort or more spirited driving on the twisties.

This example is coming to market from ~8 years ownership, ~16,000 miles recorded, and only one previous owner. If you're looking for a 987 S, this example is well worth a thorough look.

I very much enjoyed owning this Boxster - it's such a great car and a great value package.

Mark is the second owner of this Porsche having purchased it from a close friend. He has enjoyed his ownership for the last 8 years, and has had it serviced at main dealers/OPC, the same for his friend since new.

More recently, the car hasn't seen as much summer use as when he first bought the car and so Mark feels now the time is right for someone else to enjoy this example. The car is currently housed by Andrew, Mark's brother who took us for a drive on the day.

Exterior

An iconic Porsche silhouette, the Boxster received a matured performance-focused facelift with new light clusters and a adjustable spoiler.

Wheels and Tyres

The car is equipped with the optional 19" Carrera Sport wheels (code XRR), which present in good condition with some light marks noticeable when you get really close.

The 19" wheels are all wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tyres, and dated 2017. The tyres appear in very good condition with lots of tread left.

Bodywork

The shut lines appear straight and tight on this Boxster S, just as you would expect from the build quality of any modern Porsche. The doors, bonnet and boot all open and close cleanly and precisely. The convertible roof mechanism works well and opens very promptly.

When getting very close it becomes apparent that there is a very small dent above the nearside wheel arch. We have taken hi-resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the bodywork for yourselves.

Paint

Finished in a 'Porsche Polar Silver Metallic' the colour of the car has a slight blue tint, which sets it apart from the usual 'Platinum Silver'.

Each panel presents a deep lustre along with even coverage and colour throughout. Just two small points to note, we noticed some very small scratches, one on the driver's door and two on the rear bumper/spoiler, along with very light stone chips to the front and a few very minor chips to both doors. There is some slight discolouration to the PPF around the rear arches.

The images taken are from different angles and reflections to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. Please take the time to fully assess the condition.

Glass and Trim

The glass on this example looks great and in line with the low mileage, we didn't notice any chips, cracks, or discolouration on our visit. The window seals look good too and in line with the rest of the condition of the car.

The convertible hood appears in very good shape, a good detail would just bring it up a further level.

Interior

Luxuriously equipped interior, leather seats that hold you tight, Bose sound system, and a classic Porsche instrument cluster.

Seats and Carpets

The heated and electrically adjustable sports seats are finished in navy leather and make the cabin a very comfortable place to be. You can tell the car is optimised for a performance-focused drive.

We observed some very light creasing to the driver's seat bolster, along with a little area of wear on the driver's door card. The rest of the cabin matches the rest of the car, in great condition throughout. Mark informs us that on occasion there has been a slight rattle from the passenger seat.

Dashboard

The dashboard is sleek and refined, with classic Porsche styling. The instruments are working as they should, with the odometer displaying a reading of 16,646 miles on our visit, and no warning lights displayed when the engine is running.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

Optioned with a leather-covered steering wheel (code 991), it presents in great condition and no signs of excessive wear.

A 6-speed gear stick is also present, and looks in great condition.

Mechanics

This Porsche has plenty of power, the larger 3.4L flat-six makes this mid-engine roadster perfect to drive hard and fast.

Engine and Gearbox

The sweet spot between performance yet comfortable enough to use daily. With the roof down you really get to experience the 3.4L at work, accelerating and creating a gorgeous soundtrack down winding roads.

Suspension and Brakes

Driver control is improved over previous Boxster models with the latest generation of Porsche Stability Management which comes standard.

Red caliper brakes and drilled discs are clearly seen through the 19" wheels, and look in great condition.

The Drive

It really does hit a sweet spot, being practical enough to use on the daily, while offering you that top-tier Porsche performance on tap.

Electrics and Other

This Boxster S benefits from a PCM 2 unit, with navigation module, Mark confirms all electrics work well as they should.

A well maintained Boxster S in manual, with low ownership and low mileage and presenting in excellent condition with full main dealer service history, it is definitely one of the better examples coming to market.

A very well spec'd Boxster S coming to auction with the mileage of ~16,600 and just one former keeper registered. This Porsche really has been taken care of mechanically since it's been on the road, by the Official Porsche Centres (OPCs). Hi Mark,

Are the brakes in good order? They look quite rusty in the photos and having owned a few of those, I know that’s a common problem, especially if washed and left in the garage.

The brakes are in good order. The car has not been driven much recently and I believe that is why they look that way
