Professional Consigner

The versatile and sporty Targa 4S 997.2 applies half a century of supercar refinement in one small yet powerful package.

The Porsche 911 (997) was manufactured between 2004 and 2013 and in 2009 Porsche updated the 997 line-ups, introducing styling changes, a revised engine with an impressive sheet of performance figures.

These new models were faster, lighter and more fuel-efficient. On launch, the 997.2 was an instant hit among fans and motoring press worldwide. It's said to be the last of the true nimble 911s before the 991 took over, the Gen 2 comes with a host of features that increase its desirability.

This 911 997.2 C4S Targa is a refined modern classic finished in a 'Carrara White', fitted with full black leather interior and comes with excellent service history, having been owned by Donald for the previous 2 years.

This auction listing was written from information supplied by Stuart after meeting Donald the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

Unlike any car I've ever driven - the 997.2 911 will always have a special place in my heart.

Donald has been the proud owner of this Porsche 911 997.2 for the previous two years, however, now due to lack of use he has decided to part with the car and he's hoping a like-minded Porsche enthusiast will take over ownership.

The car has been well looked after by main dealers and specialists throughout the years - it had its last service in December 2020.

Donald will be happy to answer any questions you may have in the comments below.

Porsche have bought back the iconic rear reflective strip and given the front end an attractive second-gen face lift.

Wheels and Tyres

The car looks awesome on gloss black 19" 10 spoke alloys which contrast well against the white paintwork.

The wheels are in excellent condition, if you are being very picky, surface corrosion is showing on the wheel bolts - an easy Sunday job.

The attractive wheels are wrapped in Pirelli P-Zeros which also appear in excellent condition with plenty of tread.

Sleek and distinctive 911 body lines, the car appears in very well cared for condition - excellent condition. The reflective rear strip harks back to the impact bumper era of 911.

All panel gaps look correct - please take a look through all the pictures and videos for a detailed view.

Finished in 'Carrera White' with the black Targa 4S side decals, this 911 really does look the part.

The paint has an excellent lustre and colour to it, even in colour across each panel.

Please take a look at the high-resolution videos for a closer look at the paintwork.

Glass and Trim

All in excellent condition along with the rest of the car.

The trim and glass look in excellent condition with no major signs of damage, cracks, chips or discoloration.

Please watch the detailed video to see the whole exterior in great detail.

The interior of the 997.2 is superb - arguably the pinnacle of 911 design that was purely focused around the driver and driving.

Seats and Carpets

Beautiful black leather throughout, this example is fitted with matching carpets and door cards. - all are in excellent condition.

The carpets inside the cabin look in line with the rest of the car, i.e. in excellent condition with a deep luxurious pile.

Just like in every 911 before it, the dashboard gives you all the information you'd need in every driving situation with the classic 5-gauge layout.

All in excellent condition and Donald reports all the gauges and dials are working perfectly.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The original Porsche steering wheel is fitted in this 997.2 along with the manual gear shifter - both are in excellent condition.

Take a look through the extensive photos and videos to see the detail up close.

Fitted with a feisty 3.8L flat-six, lowered suspension and various other factory upgrades - this really is a proper drivers' car.

Engine and Gearbox

The larger displaced 3.8L was fitted on all 'S' and '4S' models of the 997.2, offering outstanding figures and times; 0-60 in just 4.3 seconds.

These units represented a significant step forward for Porsche, with 40% fewer moving parts and 6kg trimmed off in bulk from its predecessor. All the 997.2 engines featured a smaller stroke with a larger bore, direct fuel injection, and high compression ratios - 12.5:1 on the Targa 4S.

The car started first time in our cold start video which we conducted for the mechanical video - take a look, to see the car drive out of the garage too.

Suspension and Brakes

The Targa 4S comes fitted with adaptive suspension, perfect for any driving circumstance - perhaps you're popping to the shops, or out on a spirited run - this car has you covered.

Maintenance on this example has been carried out by main dealers and specialists, brakes serviced in line with the schedule ensuring that everything works as expected.

The Drive

The four-wheel-drive system adds to the 997 experience, adding an element of safety to an already very secure car.

Donald really enjoys getting the 4S out on most weekends around Glasgow's sweeping roads, and mentions how quick yet confidence-inspiring this car can be.

Electrics and Other

Fitted with the OEM Porsche multimedia screen, Donald reports all the other electrics on the car are working exactly as they should - no issues.

History and Paperwork

Highly original, fully serviced and desirable 4S Targa variant is a great choice of modern classic for any collection, especially in an appreciating market.

This previous owner and Donald have clearly taken good care of the car as it comes with:
- 4x main dealer service stamps (Porsche Centre Guildford).
- 2x Porsche specialist (Motortune Porsche Centre).
- 5x brake fluid changes and 4x long-life guarantee condition reports throughout its life.

Please take a look in the paperwork section to see the history and also remember the 997.2 service intervals are every two years.

The 4S gained an impressive amount of performance-focused modifications including:
- PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management)
- 19" alloys
- Upgraded braking (donated from the turbo)
- Sports exhaust
- Bi-Xenon headlights
- Aluminium trim

Please note, the private registration will not be sold with the vehicle, the car will be returned to an age related registration number.

Checks carried out by us: Seller ID, V5C, HPi checked and clear.
