Introduction

Jacob Boodrie
Professional Consigner

A remarkable V12 luxury saloon celebrating Rolls-Royce heritage, craftsmanship, and effortless refinement.

Introduced in 2009, the Rolls-Royce Ghost was created to offer a more driver-focused alternative within the Rolls-Royce range, sitting below the Phantom while retaining the marque’s legendary standards of luxury and craftsmanship. Built on BMW Group engineering foundations but transformed through Rolls-Royce’s bespoke approach, the Ghost combined effortless performance, exceptional comfort, and handcrafted attention to detail into a modern luxury saloon. Powered by a 6.6-litre twin-turbocharged V12, it quickly became one of the most successful models in the company’s modern history.

The Ghost Alpine Trial Centenary Collection was created in 2014 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Rolls-Royce’s remarkable success in the 1913 Austrian Alpine Trial. The original event tested endurance, reliability, and engineering excellence across some of Europe’s most challenging mountain roads, with Rolls-Royce proving the capability of its cars by achieving outstanding results. This limited-edition collection pays tribute to that achievement through unique styling details, bespoke finishes, and exclusive touches inspired by the original Alpine Trial cars, making it one of the most collectible modern Ghost variants.

This example features a Silver bonnet finish, designed to replicate the contrasting bonnet of the historic competition car, along with bespoke coachline detailing inspired by the original Alpine Trial route. Inside, the cabin features a bespoke walnut dashboard inlay showcasing a detailed map of the original Alpine Trial route, alongside a special Alpine Trial clock referencing the timings of the historic rally stages.

This Ghost comes to auction following approximately one year of ownership with its current custodian.

No doubt about it, this is a rare car as only 35 examples produced worldwide, and assuming the majority of those cars would have been exported to the Far East or the USA, then the number actually left in the UK could probably be counted on one had - this represents a rare opportunity to acquire a highly desirable and historically significant Ghost.

This listing was written from information supplied by Jacob after meeting Philip the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

Few modern luxury cars command attention quite like the Ghost - elegant, imposing, and unmistakably Rolls-Royce.

Philip has long been part of the Rolls-Royce scene and, having owned many different models over the years, says this Ghost is his favourite. He describes it as a different breed from the other Rolls-Royces he has owned, thanks to its rarity, modern features, and effortless refinement.

Philip has thoroughly enjoyed travelling in it and only wishes he had more opportunities to use it.

As this example is now seeing less use, Philip has decided that the time is right to pass it on to a new owner who will continue to enjoy and preserve this special Ghost.

Philip will be on hand to answer any questions you may have in the comments below.

Exterior

From its commanding presence to its elegant proportions, the Ghost showcases timeless Rolls-Royce design at its finest.

Wheels and Tyres

This example is fitted with Rolls-Royce Ghost 20-inch alloy wheels, which present in great overall condition.

The wheels are fitted with Goodyear Eagle Sport tyres on the front, dated 2018, and Goodyear EfficientGrip tyres on the rear, dated 2013. They appear to be in good visual condition, with a good amount of remaining tread and no visible cracking on the outside sidewalls.

Please take time to review the photos and videos for a detailed view of the exterior, wheels, and tyres so you can make your own assessment of their condition. Tyres are a key safety item, and you should consider replacing any that are cracked, perished, unevenly worn, or over 10 years old.

image

Bodywork

The bodywork appears to be in great overall condition, with panel gaps aligning visually well around the car.

There are, however, some minor age-related marks including some very light blemishes. Notable areas include a small pin dent to the front stainless steel grille, and a small scuff on the rear bumper.

We've provided more detailed observations through our high-resolution images and videos. Please take the time to look through all the media files for a detailed view of what’s on offer and to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

image

Paint

Finished in a lovely 'Jubille Silver Metallic', the paintwork presents in great condition with even colour and coverage across all panels.

Once again, we've captured high-resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the paintwork for yourselves.

image

Glass and Trim

The glass is in good condition for the car’s age, during our visit we didn’t notice any obvious cracks or discolouration.

The window seals appear good and consistent with the overall condition of the car.

The door handles and window surrounds also present.

image

Interior

A handcrafted cabin of exceptional luxury, combining exquisite materials, traditional craftsmanship, and modern comfort.

Seats and Carpets

The off white leather seats, have retained their shape well over the years, with only very light creasing.

The door cards and carpets present in a similar manner, showing consistent condition throughout the interior.

For a detailed view of the cabin, please take a look at the extensive media.

The odometer displayed ~34,934 miles on the digital screen at the time of consignment.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The three spoke Rolls Royce Black leather steering wheel is in excellent condition.

The gear selector stalk also looked in good shape too, both consistent with the condition of the car.

Mechanics

Powered by a refined twin-turbocharged V12, the Ghost delivers effortless performance with remarkable smoothness and composure.

Engine and Gearbox

The Ghost is powered by a 6.6-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine, producing ~563 BHP and delivering the effortless performance synonymous with Rolls-Royce. Paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox, the engine provides smooth, near-silent power delivery, allowing this exceptional luxury saloon to glide effortlessly while still offering impressive pace when required.

On the day of our visit, we started the car from cold, and it performed well on the road - the engine pulled nicely, idled smoothly, and ran well.

Philip reports that the car starts from cold with no issues and drives well with its smooth 8-speed automatic gearbox sending the power to the wheels. Take a look at the mechanical video to see the car starting from cold, driving around and a closer look around the engine bay.

image

Suspension and Brakes

The Ghost features Rolls-Royce’s advanced air suspension system, designed to deliver the marque’s signature “Magic Carpet Ride”. The electronically controlled suspension continuously adapts to road conditions, providing exceptional comfort while maintaining impressive composure and stability.

On the drive out, Philip took us around some local roads. We heard no obvious knocks, bangs, or squeaks from the suspension, and overall, the car performed as expected with no observed issues.

We cover the underside of the Ghost exterior in our "Mechanical" gallery section. Head over to our video section, where we've summarised our visit in more detail for you to view for yourself.

image

The Drive

Philip loves driving this Ghost, mentioning the effortless power it provides and how confidence-inspiring the car feels on the road. Please take a look at the ‘On The Road’ video, where Philip takes us for a short drive and shares his experience of the car.

It really does strike a sweet spot, combining everyday usability with the exceptional refinement, comfort, and performance that Rolls-Royce is renowned for.

image

Electrics and Other

Philip reports that everything is functional and operational, aligning with the overall condition of the car.

    Key Bidding Facts

    What is your reserve policy?

A reserve is the minimum price a seller is willing to accept for their vehicle. We work closely with sellers to set realistic reserves that reflect current market values — we don’t take on vehicles with inflated or unrealistic expectations.

If the reserve isn’t met when the auction ends, we’ll work with the highest bidder to try and agree a deal with the seller.

Whether the reserve has been met may / may not be disclosed during the auction — just like a traditional auction house. Bidders usually find out if they’ve won only when the auction ends.

    As a guide:
    – If you’re able to place a second bid, the reserve hasn’t been met.
    – If you attempt to outbid yourself and the system blocks it, then the reserve has been met.

Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.

Network Connection – your device may lose connection and you’re not able to bid, or see the latest bidding history.
