Introduction

My TR3A offers strong performance, resulting in an extraordinary driving experience, coupled with ever-pleasing body lines.

I've owned this matching numbers car for nearly 35 years, and am unfortunately selling due to my advancing age!

It sits on an interesting registration URW429, which is close to the four works TR3As in the 1958 Monte Carlo Rally: VRW220, VRW221, VRW222, & VRW223.

Exterior

Appealing body lines are representative of the great British sports cars of the age. In the 1990s, 10k miles ago, it was subject to a professional body-off rebuild to original specification.

Wheels and Tyres

The 60 spoke wire wheels are in good condition and include a 48 spoke spare wheel for ease of removal.

There's good remaining tread on the fitted tyres, whilst the spare is unused.

Bodywork

The car was subject to a full body-off restoration in the 90s, with many new parts as documented. The bodywork remains in excellent, solid condition with no obvious rust

Panel gaps are exceptional, reflecting the craft of the restoration specialists.

Many new body panels were used as documented whilst others being refurbished during the rebuild. New floor panels fitted during the rebuild, are in excellent condition throughout with no paint loss.

The underside is similar. Regular wax oiling has played a large part in preserving the original finish of the chassis, which has no obvious signs of ever having been welded.

Paint

The paintwork presents in excellent condition overall, with no fading. There's some paint loss on the instrument binnacle and there are some small areas of micro blistering to the front nearside door edge and front offside wing.

There's some crazing to the fresh air vent.

Glass and Trim

The glass and windscreen surround are in good condition.

The chrome trim is in excellent condition, having mostly been re-chromed.

Interior

The interior is in black leather, including the replacement door cards and dash toppings . Reconditioned leather seats back and front are in sound and original condition: they've developed a lovely patina over the decades.

Seats and Carpets

The door cards and seats are in full leather, including the back bench seat. Having been replaced/repaired, they're in good condition, with some patina and wear - particularly to the front seat bolsters.

The carpets are also in sound condition.

Dashboard

The instrument panel is showing some paint loss.

All instruments are in good working order: the majority were restored during the re-wiring process.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The steering wheel and gear stick are in sound, original condition with wear commensurate with the age of the car.

Mechanics

The car has proven very responsive and reliable during my 35 year ownership. It's a home market, matching numbers car.

Engine and Gearbox

The engine was professionally rebuilt, as was the gearbox - both remain original to the car.

A stainless steel exhaust completes the drivetrain.

Suspension and Brakes

The suspension and brakes are in excellent condition, having been regularly serviced.

The Drive

The car starts well and performs as it should through the gears.

The overdrive really adds to the period driving experience.

Electrics and Other

The car was fully re-wired during the ground-up rebuild in the 1990s.

History and Paperwork

The car benefits from a ground-up, meticulous, body-off restoration, which included body, chassis, mechanics, and electrics.

The commitment to originality has been documented with numerous receipts. This home market, 2-owner car comes with Coventry registration, adding to its charm and history.

The car has been maintained by me throughout, aside from repairs carried out by specialists. It's only driven 10,000 miles since its ground-up restoration in the 90s.

The documentation includes the ground-up restoration and 34 years' of receipts covering work carried out.

Car comes with new side screens, which have never been fitted. The hood is in good condition, with an as-new tonneau.

    Key Bidding Facts

    What is your reserve policy?

A reserve is the minimum price a seller is willing to accept for their vehicle. We work closely with sellers to set realistic reserves that reflect current market values — we don’t take on vehicles with inflated or unrealistic expectations.

If the reserve isn’t met when the auction ends, we’ll work with the highest bidder to try and agree a deal with the seller.

Whether the reserve has been met may / may not be disclosed during the auction — just like a traditional auction house. Bidders usually find out if they’ve won only when the auction ends.

    As a guide:
    – If you’re able to place a second bid, the reserve hasn’t been met.
    – If you attempt to outbid yourself and the system blocks it, then the reserve has been met.

Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.

Network Connection – your device may lose connection and you’re not able to bid, or see the latest bidding history.
