The TR4A is a great car. Steve has kept the car mechanically sound throughout his 36 years of ownership. This is a good car to drive around in the sun, if the new owner would like, they can use the Triumph as a little project car to keep them going.

Recent Buyer Review – Simon Welsh on 1st May “Found my ideal 90’s sports car on Trade Classics. Living in Bournemouth and the car being in the Midlands I relied heavily on the advert, photos and videos.
On picking the car up I wasn’t disappointed. Everything was as it had been described. So I got straight into it and drove home. What a drive put a smile on my face.
Thanks very much Trade Classics and I’m now looking out for my next classic to add to the collection.”.

After looking at a few cars in the ’80s, Steve decided to purchase the car to use as a fun machine to feel an invigorating experience of driving a ’60s classic. He became passionate about owning one since going on classic car treasure hunts with his friends. After buying the car he travelled to France sometimes, whilst amassing 500-1000 miles per year.
Living in London, he kept the Triumph mechanically in check by his former treasure hunting friend at his workshop. Watch our usual ‘Meet the Owner’ video as Steve talks further about his time with the car. He is looking to sell now as he is getting older therefore, using the car less.
Whilst keeping the car running well, Steve has not taken time or money to perform a restoration on the exterior, as he just wanted to use the car frequently and not worry too much about the cost as such. With reliability in the forefront of his mind, the bodywork was not Steve’s main concern. Please watch our ‘Exterior Review’ video to see all angles of the body.
Wheels & Tyres
The wheels are in fair condition showing some corrosion. A full set of 2013 Dunlop tyres have good tread with a profile of 196/65/15.
The bodywork shows signs of corrosion from where you would expect, and a dent on the offside wing panel.
The paint is uneven and has bubbling across the rear and may need to be refurbished by the new owner.
Glass and Trim
The trim is in average condition of the car’s mileage.
The interior looks tidy with the potential to look amazing. The classic triumph wooden dashboard is always a welcome sight when on the roads. Please watch the ‘Interior Review’ video to see if this car is to your liking.
Seats and Carpets
Both the seats and carpets are in great condition – Steve mentions that he has the original seats that come with the sale – please see the photos.
The dashboard could be renewed by the new owner, looks tidy considering the age and mileage.
Steering Wheel / Gear Stick
Steve mentions the steering wheel is not original. The 4-speed gear stick functions well.
As mentioned, Steve has taken care of the mechanics throughout his ownership to enjoy the car when he wanted. He was by no means looking to impress the passer-by, but used the car with enjoyment and satisfaction. Please watch the ‘On the Road’ video to see the car performing reliably around Steve’s local area.
Engine and Gearbox
The car started first go from cold – (see the cold start video). The engine soon settled into a smooth tick over. The 4-speed manual gearbox was rebuilt in the ’80s and has overdrive. The original engine is a 2.2L straight four.
Suspension and Brakes
Most of the suspension and brakes have been replaced under Steve’s ownership and performed well on the road during our visit. The car had the chassis replaced in its life further adding to the reliability.
The drive was pleasurable on our visit and we are sure someone is in the market for a car that can be used and enjoyed.
Steve has used the same mechanic and friend for the last 30 years to keep the Triumph as reliable as can be. Please review the paperwork section of the media file to view all invoices and complete MOT history under his ownership.
During Steve’s 30 years of ownership, he has used his friend’s garage as his desired place to keep the car in check. Steve has kept a full MOT history (as can be seen below) that has amassed a healthy mileage record over the course of his ownership.
A list of parts that have been bought for the car can be found in the paperwork section of the media file.
Please see the images below to review all the paperwork that comes with the car. The clock has been changed twice in Steve’s ownership, please see the list below.
