The stylish British sports car that combined classic looks with improved engineering. The Triumph TR4A IRS was based on the earlier TR4 but was transformed when Triumph introduced independent rear suspension (IRS). This made the car more comfortable for touring while also improving cornering stability. Although some markets still received a live-axle version, the IRS model is generally regarded as the more desirable and technically advanced variant, retaining its traditional open-top driving experience.
Powered by a 2.1-litre four-cylinder engine producing around 104 horsepower, the TR4A offered lively performance and could reach a top speed of about 110 mph. Its Michelotti-designed body, simple interior, and optional overdrive gearbox made it a popular choice for both spirited driving and long-distance touring.

Hi Tony. The vehicle is MOT exempt.
There is a cover that goes over the hood when it is down to make it look tidy, but not a full cover that covers the entire interior. This cover is in good condition with no rips or tears etc.
As regards the welds in the boot – I am afraid I am not sure! If there is anything you would me to do regarding these please let me know and I will try to investigate further.

I agree the traditional peg was always the easy fix.
Anyway Q? I may have missed them but I didn’t see any photos with tonnage covers for the hood. Is there one?
Where there are beam welds are they soft welds? This on the rear boot fixing to side panels. Believe original welds were hard and tended to crack.

Hi. Yes both work. The peg is the “traditional” fix to keep the choke out when required! The last owner was not able to source / fit a new cable before I purchased the vehicle but, TBH, the peg works well! A replacement cable would remove the need for the optional extra!

There is a clothes peg on the choke in some photographs and the fresh air ventilation lever is in or out in others. Do both work?
