Wow, what a simply stunning TR6 this is. We all love the 6 at Trade Classics and have auctioned a few over the years. This particular example is owned by Alan and is in excellent condition inside and out.

In its earlier life, one of the previous owners completed the restoration with a close friend, and then this car was passed from father to son. Now it's time again for this TR6 to find a new home for someone to enjoy those country roads with the top down.

I love these British classics, the sound of the straight six with the roof down is lovely.

Alan loves classic cars and is always interested in, and never shy of, recommissioning classics. All part of the fun. This particular restored example came to Alans attention a while back, after being stuck in probate for some 7 years. He acquired the car which presents in beautiful condition, carried out a few jobs to get it running as it should, and has been enjoying it with the fair weather we've had.

Having enjoyed the car, Alan is looking to find it a new home to help fund a bigger project, the restoration of his 230 SL Pagoda, and so this car is now up for auction with us.

Exterior

This TR6 is finished in a the classic Signal Red colour, sharp straight lines and that Kamm tail rear.

Wheels and Tyres

15" steel wheels with Hankook tyres all round, that sporty look. They are in excellent condition along with the tyres having lots of tread.

Alan had the wheels refurbished in his ownership, take a look at the images and video.

Bodywork

Solid all over, nice and straight, and no signs of any dents or accident damage etc. No signs of rust either, as the car has been dry stored since the restoration.

Paint

The paint looks absolutely stunning, coverage is excellent across the car. There are with some minor areas showing an overspray near the bottom of the sills if we are looking hard for points of note, it really is lovely.

The car was originally white, but the previous owners decide to change the colour to Signal Red during the restoration. Watch the video review to see quality of the finish.

Glass and Trim

All in excellent condition with a new soft top hood being added recently. Some very slight pitting can be seen on the chrome but nothing substantial.

Fresh number plates, spare wheel cover and wiper blades and arms have been added by Alan over the last year.

Interior

Reupholstered to a very high standard, a smart and unfussy cabin on the TR6.

Seats and Carpets

The black seats look immaculate excellent having covered very minimal miles since being added to the vehicle this year by Alan.

All carpets are in great condition with no signs of damage or corrosion underneath.

Dashboard

All dials and switches are in good condition with some patina showing around edges on the wooden dash.

An interior light and mount were added during Alan's ownership.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The car has a lovely wooden 3-spoke Moto-Lita steering wheel. It presents in very good condition, and really looks the part in this car.

The gear stick looks in excellent condition with no issues.

Mechanics

150BHP 2.5L straight six engine, 4 speed manual gearbox with overdrive, and that sporty sounding exhaust.

Engine and Gearbox

The 2.5L engine and engine bay look incredibly clean, something any new respective buyer will be proud to own. In the video you'll see the car starts from cold and ticks over without issue.

This is a UK car, CP series with fuel injection pushing out 150BHP from factory. The 4-speed manual gearbox has overdrive and we are assured by the seller the gears change as expected.

Suspension and Brakes

The TR6 has coil-spring front and rear suspension. For stopping power, the TR6 braking system includes discs at the front and drums at the rear. Alan assures us no abnormal bumps, knocks or rattles are present when driving.

The Drive

One of the best sports cars on the market in its day, the TR6 is a beautiful sports car that can be used in a variety of different situations; a runaround, going to shows, on holiday, there are not many places a TR6 doesn't look good and 'at home' in.

Alan tells us how surprised he was when driving this one for the first time. and is slightly reluctant in seeing the car leave his ownership - but the Pagoda awaits!

Electrics and Other

Everything on the car works as expected, a strong start from the ignition, and dials that have been reconditioned throughout Alan's short but compassionate ownership.

One thing to note is the period Lucas Square 8's that Alan fitted, he didn't get around to wiring them up, a small job for the new owner.

History and Paperwork

A UK RHD Triumph TR6, with its 4 speed manual gearbox with overdrive, make for the perfect summer sprinter.

As mentioned previously, this car was locked in probate for some time, and unfortunately during that time the history was lost. The merits of this car are definitely in the condition which is presents today, having been restored in previous ownership and cared and stored correctly since.

With 4 former keepers (two being from the same family), Alan mentions that he is trying to contact a very good friend of the longest owner who might be able to shed some more light about the restoration that took place on the TR6.

Good morning Alan,
I’m currently bidding on your TR6, the description is very well detailed, I would just like to ask you how the car is to drive, steering, braking etc.

Hello Jon
The Triumph drives very well steering and brakes fine, and as they should be. The handbrake works but could probably do with improving. The overdrive is excellent, very responsive even from cold. Engine oil pressure is really good

Hi again Jon, I am fairly certain it is I won’t be able to check this until tomorrow evening as I keep the car in a friends garage in the village here. He works daytime I think the auction might end before I can give you a positive answer.

Hello David, yes I can confirm that the TR6 has overdrive, third and fourth gear, it is very responsive even from cold. The switch is on the right hand side of the steering column,

Hi Alan, can you confirm please that the car has overdrive as detailed as usually there would be a switch On the gear stick which there isn’t, if so can you confirm please if it is just on fourth or both 3rd & 4th please. What is the auction reserve if there is one please, many thanks

Hello Daniel, the TR6 is a UK supplied car,
It’s the CP series with fuel injection overdrive and 150 BHP. Hope this helps.
