Introduction
George Church
A proper classic British roadster for just £4.50!
This is our 7th competition: George took home the Alfa 156 GTA from our 6th, and now we're back to British with a stunning Triumph TR6! Congratulations to the winner Thomas Hunter.
This Triumph TR6 from 1973 could be yours for £4.50! It's a UK RHD car, running on that all-important petrol injection system, and has just 4 former keepers registered. It looks lovely in the winter sun in white, and it's a ready-to-go classic car that the winner can drive away when they collect. What are you waiting for? Exterior
A major update from the TR5, with a sleek low-waisted look and a combination of sharper lines & classic chrome finishes.
Wheels and Tyres
Fitted with original steel wheels, they all present in good to average condition showing some age and signs of previous paint etc. We've replaced the tyres with a brand new set so the winner is ready to go!
Bodywork
For a car from the 70s, the panel gaps and shut-lines on this car look good. It's likely had restoration work in the past, as we didn't spot any corrosion on this.
The soft-top is in good condition too - manually operated of course - but we think most of the time you'll be keeping it down like we have!
Paint
Finished in white, there's an even finish in colour and paint across all of the car.
Being a classic, it does have some marks and localised touch-up areas across the car, but in general it looks great as you can see from the photos.
Glass and Trim
The car has all the right badges in place: some look a bit older than others, and some of the chrome trim, like the front bumper, does show some pitting.
The glass looks good on the car in line with the age of this classic.
Interior
Back to basics in this classic roadster, with delightful period wood veneer trim and chrome bezels.
Seats and Carpets
Fitted with black vinyl seats, which are in good condition and don't show much wear. This is a great, hard wearing material.
The carpets are also black, and add to the overall lovely presentation of this car.
Dashboard
Wood veneer, Smiths dials, and chrome bezels make for a very classic affair.
The dashboard is smart as pictured, with just some ageing to the veneer showing.
The dials are all legible and the top of the dash is wrapped in black vinyl.
Steering Wheel / Gear Stick
Fitted with a period Triumph steering wheel, which is wrapped in black leather and presents well.
The gearstick is a simple affair with markings for the gearbox pattern.
Mechanics
A later CR car, these delivered ~125BHP to the rear wheels through a 4 speed gearbox with overdrive. What a sound they make, too - be sure to check out the videos!
Engine and Gearbox
The straight six sounds great on this car: you'll see some videos of it in action on the Raffall competition page.
Fitted with a 4 speed gearbox, it operates without issue with a firm clutch bite to transfer the power through the rear axle.
Suspension and Brakes
As with many classic roadsters, the suspension set-up is low to the ground, putting you in prime position when driving. It feels planted on the road and the brakes are effective when pushed hard.
The Drive
This car is certainly not for the shrinking violet! Get in, fire her up, put the roof down, and you'll be grinning with delight when you press the accelerator and hear her go!
Electrics and Other
A relatively simple affair with these classic cars: the important things like the lights, dials, and heater all work.
We haven't actually tried the period radio: we've been too busy listening to that straight six.
History and Paperwork
This car has just had 4 former keepers registered, comes from long-term ownership, and most importantly: can be won for just £4.50.
This car came from long term ownership earlier in the year: ~47 years, in fact. It's a classic car that's just waiting for a winner to cherish and enjoy it.
We’ve conducted our usual seller checks, including photo ID, V5, and also actioned a history check on the vehicle. This is a professional check by HPI that highlights whether the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or has any outstanding finance. Note, this does not include a mileage history check. Terms and conditions apply.
