Introduction
Paul Wright
A lovely V8 engine, power steering, automatic, electric windows and an optional hardtop – what more do you need from a British classic?
The Stag was a clever upmarket shift to align Triumph with European luxury grand tourers. Unique in its execution, the Stag is a full four-seater with a usable boot and a Targa roof that combines body strength and integrity with the pleasures of open-top motoring. The design language was unmistakably stylish, conveying elegance with an element of aggression. Triumph's reputation for building charismatic sports cars translated perfectly into this Michelotti-styled V8 cruiser. With fully independent suspension and refined driving manners, the Stag was one of the most comfortable cars of its era. Best suited for brisk, effortless driving rather than performance, it is a natural-born cruiser.
This 1976 example comes to market from~2 year ownership from a classic car enthusiast. Used at every possible opportunity, it has been treated great care. A recent full service has had some minor issues addressed, leaving it ready for the next keeper. Finished in "British Racing Green" (75) with "Beige" (74) vinyl interior, and with an automatic gearbox, it's makes a nice change and looks great.
This listing was written from information supplied by Paul after meeting Michaela the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Hi David…..unfortunately until they complete their steps I can’t organise, and it would be a breach of my agreement to not stay within side their communication rules and could invalidate any sale conditions. I’ve worked with them this last month getting my car ready for listing and they have been superb, so im sure you will hear back from them very soon and we can organise a viewing, you won’t be disappointed it’s a great car.I will email myself and prompt them also….talk soon michaela

Meet the owner
I just love driving a usable classic rather than modern cars.
Michaela purchased the Stag just over two years ago and has thoroughly enjoyed every single mile she’s driven in it. Her first choice of classic was a Triumph Herald, but the need for an automatic made this a little difficult, which is where the Stag came in. Automatic, power steering and a V8 – just what she was after.
Unfortunately, due to an extension being built – which has been slightly delayed – there is no storage for the Stag, and Michaela doesn’t want to leave it out over the winter months, which is the reason for the sale. She’ll be happy to answer any questions about the car in the comments section below.

EXTERIOR VIDEO
Exterior
Finished in British Racing Green – is there really a more fitting colour for a Triumph Stag?
Wheels and Tyres
Fitted with the original alloy wheels, these are generally in good condition with just a small amount of age-related tarnishing and a few minor marks. The Radar Rivera Pro 2 tyres are in like-new condition.
Please see the image gallery for more photographs.
image
Bodywork
Walking around the car, it presents well. The panel gaps look to be matching. There are a couple of minor dings here and there, mainly noted on the driver’s side quarter panel and the edge of the boot lid. We noticed an area of corrosion at the top nearside section of the windscreen frame as pictured.
We’ve highlighted in more detail our observations through our high-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view of what’s on offer and to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.
image
Paint
Finished in “British Racing Green”, the Stag was repainted by a former keeper several years ago. The colour and finish is generally uniform across the car, there is an area under the offside door handle that has a different finish. There are a few small chips here and there on areas like leading edged for the doors/frames. These could possibly be touched in, but would be noticeable.
The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there yourself. So please take the time to fully assess these high-resolution images and videos of the car to make up your own mind about the condition of the paint.
image
Glass and Trim
All windows appear to be in good order with no noticeable, excessive scratches. There is some perishing to some of the rubbers, and the chrome trims are in good condition.
All of the lights are free from damage; there is a small amount of tarnishing to the chrome in keeping with the age of the car.
Included with the car is the factory hardtop, which is in good condition. Michaela tells us the vinyl roof works correctly but does have some patina.

INTERIOR VIDEO
Interior
The factory vinyl interior is very ‘70s and completely charming.
Seats and Carpets
The interior of the Stag is original and the seats have worn very well over the years, just showing a minor amount of patina, as you would expect. The are finished in “Beige” (74) vinyl, providing a nice contrast to the green exterior.
The carpets throughout, in true ‘70s style, have a good amount of pile and very little wear. Inside the boot is clean and tidy, and the spare wheel is present.
image
Dashboard
The black-topped vinyl dashboard is in good condition, as is the wooden fascia, which presents well.
All of the instruments are working correctly, and the odometer shows a reading of ~84,642 miles.
image
Steering Wheel / Gear Stick
The original steering wheel is in good order with minimal signs of age, as is the automatic gear lever.

‘ON THE ROAD’ VIDEO
Mechanics
The V8 looks great, sounds great and performs great – just like you would expect.
Engine and Gearbox
The 3.0-litre V8 has just been given a once-over by Michaela’s local specialist, who has replaced the oil, coolant, spark plugs, air and fuel filters. It’s also worth noting that the Stag has been fitted with the Kenlowe fan upgrade, keeping the V8 cool. The car fires up without hesitation and runs with no issues reported.
Out in the car, the automatic gear change is smooth, and the car pulls well through the gears and sits nicely when cruising.
image
Suspension and Brakes
In the Stag, the ride is comfortable, as you would expect for a ‘70s cruiser. Soaking up the road with ease, there are no knocks or bangs.
A new brake master cylinder was recently fitted and the brakes given a once-over. With that, the car stops in a straight line with no issues mentioned.
image
The Drive
Driving the Triumph Stag is a classic motoring experience. The 3.0-litre V8 provides smooth, confident power, and the car has a distinctive engine note that adds to its charm.
Steering is responsive, and the ride is comfortable, making it well-suited for relaxed cruising. The automatic transmission and power steering provide ease of use. With its unique design and open-top feel, the Stag delivers a memorable and enjoyable journey.
image
Electrics and Other
All switchgear appears to function correctly and is in good condition. For a ‘70s car, you are also blessed with electric windows, which operate quickly.
Michaela has also had a Bluetooth adapter installed, enabling music to be streamed easily through the factory speakers.

History and Paperwork
Coming to market from ~2 year ownership, this automatic Stag was restored sometime in the past by a former keeper, and recently has been given a thorough service ready for sale.
An extensive collection of invoices for work carried out and parts fitted over the years, plus some previous MOT certificates dating back to the late ‘90s, make up a nice history file.
A well-cared-for example which has been well maintained by enthusiast owner Michaela. An ideal opportunity for those who want to own a British classic which is ready to jump in and enjoy.
We’ve carried out our usual seller checks, including verifying photo ID, the V5C, and an HPI check. This confirms the car has not been stolen, written off, or has any outstanding finance. Please note: This check does not include mileage verification.
We’ve summarised the car based on the seller’s information above. As always, we go to great lengths to photograph and film the car in high-resolution detail so you can make your own informed assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So grab a cuppa, sit back, and enjoy reviewing everything in this listing.
Viewings are welcome for all our listings. Please get in touch to arrange a time – we just need to speak with you first and receive valid photo ID before confirming.
If you have any questions – no matter how small – please ask the seller in the comments section below before placing your bids, as bids cannot be retracted and form a binding contract if you win, just like in a traditional auction house.
