This model with its wedge shape and V8 power had fashion written all over it, couple it with the impressive performance figures for the time and it's quite the package.

When Peter Wheeler took over TVR, he found himself wanting more power than what the Cologne V6-equiped Tasmin 280i could offer. Development began, and the engineers at TVR created a new Rover powered sports car - the TVR 350i.

The 350i first appeared in August 1983, it shared the same chassis and body as the 280i, yet was fitted with a new 190BHP Rover V8 which would propelled the 350i to 130mph with an impressive 0-60 speed of 6.3s.

We really like the look of this vibrant 350i Convertible, coming out of 16 years ownership, this car had a major rebuild in the mid 90s and has been serviced at home in the current ownership.

I've always been keen on TVR's, especially the iconic wedge models the 80s offered.

Owned by Andrew for the previous 16 years, an enthusiast for these TVRs he has always been taken great care with his ownership, storage and maintenance regime for the car.

Andrew mentions spending longer underneath the car tinkering on parts rather than polishing the bodywork, we we’re impressed when we looked underneath. Exterior

Pop up headlights and space-age wedge styling, the 350i sure does look the part.

Wheels and Tyres

Attractive 80s alloys with an intricate lattice design are fitted on this 350i, all looking in great condition in line with the age and mileage of the car. They were subject to a refurb in 1996 when the major works were completed.

The wheels are wrapped Goodyear Optigrip tyres, they appear in great condition with plenty of tread all around and are dated 2011. Please take a look at the photos and videos for a detailed view of the wheels and tyres.

Bodywork

The bodywork on this TVR looks great, a solid example with the most recent years of MOTs matching this too. Shut lines and panel gaps all look good and tight on this 350i. Andrew reports carrying out several corrosion preventative measures to ensure the car maintains its condition for the years to come.

The Targa-style detachable roof exhibits some very light scratch marks, made by the previous owner's cat while the roof was stored in the garage. Take a look at the exterior videos and photographs for a detailed tour.

Paint

Finished in a very attractive vibrant red, the colour really shows off the sharp lines of the car.

The paintwork looks generally good, when you take in to condition the age and mileage. Around the bonnet, signs of wear are beginning to show in the form of small stone chips, some of these areas have already been tended to with touch-up paint. Glass and Trim

The glass looks in great condition across the car, along with the trim. No major cracks or chipping were observed. All the window rubbers and seals appear in good condition in line with the age and mileage.

Interior

Bright-red additions elevate the 80s angular interior.

Seats and Carpets

The full black leather interior looks in great condition throughout, with very little signs of age, red piping additions to the seats give the interior a bit of contrast.

The carpets and door cards are in great condition throughout and match the rest of the interior.

Dashboard

The dashboard is clean with black dials and a classy burr walnut veneer dash.

Andrew reports the instruments and controls are in good working order.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

A sporty affair, a wooden momo steering wheel and TVR gearstick are present and appear in great condition in line with the age and mileage of the car.

Mechanics

The new owner of TVR wanted to squeeze more power out of the Tasmin 280i, a V8 would soon solve this.

Engine and Gearbox

The real highlight of the car - the 3.5L Rover V8 which powered this lightweight sports car to 130MPH.

Andrew is a pilot and understands the importance of a regular servicing regime. He has treated the car to regular oil changes, along with servicing all the other liquids, filters, and plugs when required. The car started first time in our cold start video which we conducted for the mechanical video - take a look, to see the engine bay in more detail.

Looking back through the history, it looks like the car received a gearbox overhaul, along with clutch related work in 2015, ~6,000 miles covered since then.

Suspension and Brakes

Andrew reports suspension and brakes working faultlessly, mentioning a firm and sporty ride with stopping performance as required. You'll see from the underside pictures that he's ensured the car is well protected from the elements.

The Drive

The 350i offers the full TVR experience, snappy performance with precision handling. Andrew loves getting this car out in the dry, particularly the prompt performance the Rover V8 offers.

Electrics and Other

Just like many TVR's the 350i is packed with electrical features far ahead of its time. This car is fitted with an aftermarket radio along with a heater for the winter months.

Andrew reports all the switches, lights and buttons work as they should.

History and Paperwork

Meticulously owned for the previous 16 years, this powerful and good-looking TVR 350i has been given the attention it deserves.

The car comes with a very large stack of MOT reports, receipts, and service history, dating back to the car's production. The car was subject to a major restoration in 1995 - 1996 costing around £16,400.

This is a driver-focused car ready to be used and enjoyed, Andrew has mechanically and cosmetically maintained the car himself since 2005, with his regular servicing regime. He'll be more than happy to answer any of your questions in the comments below.

No a/c. I’ve never seen any TVR convertible with a hard top. Don’t think such a thing exists!!

Yes. Correct. To be honest better without; something less to worry about and the powered cars have less ‘feel’.
As its a standard Ford rack it probably could be added.
