Introduction
Ashley Dawson
Few cars capture the spirit of British sports car motoring quite like the TVR Chimaera - combining dramatic styling, a lightweight chassis and a characterful V8 soundtrack, it remains one of the most engaging open-top driving experiences available at any price.
Finished in a striking metallic blue with a contrasting cream leather interior, this 1998 example has been cherished by its current owner, John, for the past decade. During that time, the car has been maintained with enjoyment and reliability in mind, benefitting from several significant mechanical upgrades and improvements including new outriggers fitted ~5 years ago, a replacement clutch, new shock absorbers and twin cooling fans.
With just over 55,000 miles displayed and presented in honest, usable condition throughout, this Chimaera offers the opportunity to enjoy one of TVR's most iconic models exactly as intended, it comes with a current MOT valid until 12.03.2027.
This listing was written from information supplied by Ashley after meeting John the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

I WANT ONEAsk Questions
Do you have receipts for the outriggers and servicing from 2016?
The services and repairs are carried out by a guy who works for a breakdown recovery company in his free time, he also used to work for a TVR racing team some years ago, and is very knowledgeable. I can’t find the receipt for the out riggers I’m afraid I must have lost it. The work was completed by Prestige Performance Cars near Loughborough
Is there any way to confirm this with them?
No. He retired and closed the business about 4 years ago.
So you have no proof of outriggers replacement or servicing in your ownership?
As you can see from the receipts images I used Prestige Performance Cars several times, one invoice shows clutch replacement. Unfortunately I can’t find the one for the outriggers. As you point out it must have been 7 years ago not 5 I don’t really keep track that closely of repair dates, but considering how little the car has been driven in that time, always garaged and never driven in the wet it is a bit of a moot point. The car has been serviced and any repairs were carried out prior to the annual MOT which as you can see has passed annually, usually, with no advisories. The guy I use is very thorough and considerable cheaper than going to one of the ‘specialist’ garages.
It says that the company dissolved in 2019 and you said the outriggers are 5 years old?
The middle and end sections of the exhaust were replaced about 7 years ago. It hasn’t been modified.
Hello again, is the exhaust fully standard on this or has it been modified in anyway?
Hello was just wondering if there is any history on the fuel pipes being replaced or what kind of condition they are in?
The fuel and radiator pipes were replaced prior to me purchasing it. They are in good condition.
The history shows the last service was in 2016, is this correct?
The car has been serviced annually prior to its MOT
Is it possible to arrange a viewing of the car. Possibly Friday/Saturday at a time to suit yourself ?
Thx
Hi Chris,
We can help arrange a viewing, if you could send an email to [email protected] first, we just need to do some checks.
Thanks,
Colin.
Sorry I’m away at present. I can do next week if that suits?
Hi there, lovely looking car. I can’t see any details of the work done on the outriggers or shock absorbers. Sorry if I missed this. Do you have more details? Thanks
Hi
The Protech shocks were fitted 3 years ago and the outriggers replaced and undersealed 5 years ago. In that time the car has been driven less than 500 miles, always garaged and never driven in the wet. I’ve attached a photo of one of the shock absorbers, its not very clear as theres a lot of engine in the way, but it will give you an indication.
