Introduction
Andrew Taylor
Striking looks combined with super car performance - the VX220 Turbo offers a roller coaster experience for the road.
The VX220 was developed alongside the Elise S2 but with many different parts. It had one goal, to be a serious drivers' car. It was longer, wider, more flexible, and forgiving than an Elise, but every part was as much fun. The car weighed in at just 930kg. Automotive reviewers raved about its impressive handling, brakes, and precise steering at release.
Vauxhall removed the old normally aspirated 2.2-litre engine and replaced it with the unit from the Astra GSi with 200bhp / 2.0-litre and went the extra mile fitting it with an impressive turbo. This shaved 0.9 seconds of the VX220's 0-60mph, (4.7 seconds), meaning it could keep up with 911s at the time.
This example has been owned by Shaun for the previous 5 years, he was really attracted to the VX220 for its rarity and on-road super car thrills it can offer at a push of a pedal. Some choice upgrades to this car in the form of a Miltek back box fitted, and remapping to push out ~234BHP make it that extra bit special.

Is there any osmosis on the bodywork. Did you buy the car from Jon Seal
Hello, Yes I bought the vehicle from Jon Seal in 2016 and it had some osmosis on the boot lid which Jon arranged for repair/respray (excellent job done, cannot tell it has been done). There is no osmosis anywhere else on the vehicle.
Hi Shaun, do you have an answer for me about the HPI history please?
Hi Steve, I have replied to the HPI question below. I spoke with Trade Classics who ran the HPI check and they have confirmed that the report is Clear – The Web page was incorrect showing No which Trade Classics have now amended.
Hello Shaun,
Does the clutch work ok, as not come across any mention of replacement in the history?
Cheers.
Hi Ridick, yes the clutch works fine, I have had no issues in the 8k miles I have driven the car.
