Introduction

Ashley Dawson
Professional Consigner

A true modern classic with a serious performance twist, this 1993 Volkswagen Corrado VR6 stands out as far more special than the average example.

Combining the timeless appeal of Volkswagen’s iconic coupe with the added torque wave of a supercharger, it offers a driving experience that perfectly blends nostalgia with excitement.

Sharp, purposeful, and unmistakably ‘90s, the Corrado has long been celebrated for its driver-focused nature. Coming to market after almost 13 and a half years, this example elevates that reputation even further. With its clean presentation, engaging manual setup, and considered upgrades, it’s a car that feels just as rewarding today as it did when it first left the factory; if not more so.

This listing was written from information supplied by Ashley after meeting Andy the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Exterior

Finished in a striking red, this Corrado presents exactly as you’d hope: clean, sharp, and full of ‘90s character.

Wheels and Tyres

The car sits on a set of upgraded speedline alloy wheels, which suit the Corrado’s styling well and fill the arches nicely. They present in good condition and are paired with tyres that complement the car’s performance.

Wrapped in Bridgestones all round with plenty of thread.

Please take time to review the photos and videos for a detailed view of the exterior, wheels, and tyres so you can make your own assessment of their condition. Tyres are a key safety item, and you should consider replacing any that are cracked, perished, unevenly worn, or over 10 years old.

Bodywork

The design still feels purposeful today, with its low stance and wide arches giving it a sporty, planted look.

The bodywork appears straight and well cared for, with clean panel lines and a consistent finish throughout. The iconic Corrado silhouette remains one of its strongest features, and this example shows it off well.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our hi-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view at what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

Paint

The red paintwork has a strong gloss and depth to it, giving the car real presence in the light. It highlights the sharp creases and subtle curves that define the Corrado’s design.

The paint looks tidy and in great condition. A few tiny marks are visible on the passenger side: nothing to take away from the overall appeal.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these hi-resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

Glass and trim appear in good order, with all key elements present and correct. The car retains its original character while benefiting from a well-maintained overall presentation.

New plastic trims were bought and fitted on the roof rails.

Please view the photos and video below to review the condition of the glass and trim for yourself.

Interior

Inside, the Corrado keeps things simple and driver-focused, with a cockpit that reflects its performance intentions.

Seats and Carpets

The cloth seats are in good condition, with a subtly-patterned centre section adding a period-correct touch. Carpets and interior trim appear tidy and well kept.

The driver's seat is showing signs of wear on the base. Andy pointed this out and added he tried to find replacement cloth with no joy.

Please take a look at the photos and video below to decide on the condition of the seats and carpets for yourself.

Dashboard

Everything is laid out with purpose, offering a clean and functional environment.

The dashboard design is classic Volkswagen: understated, solid, and easy to use.

Controls are logically positioned, and the layout remains timeless.

Andy assured us everything is in working order at the time of the visit.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

An aftermarket steering wheel has been fitted, giving the car a more focused, driver-oriented feel.

The gear stick sits neatly within reach, offering a mechanical and engaging shift that suits the car’s character.

Mechanics

The VR6 engine is already known for its smooth power delivery and distinctive sound, but the addition of a supercharger elevates it into something far more exciting.

Engine and Gearbox

Under the bonnet is where this Corrado really stands out. The supercharged VR6 delivers strong, responsive performance, with a noticeable increase in urgency across the rev range compared with a standard car.

The manual gearbox complements this perfectly, offering an engaging and connected driving experience.

Andy has spent a lot of time and money making his VR6 better than when it left the factory, and has the paperwork to back this up.

No unwanted noises came from the engine or gearbox, which is shown on the cold start video and the "on the road" video.

Suspension and Brakes

The car feels composed and planted, with the suspension and braking setup suited to the increased performance. It strikes a balance between usability and driver enjoyment.

The car is lowered on Bilstein suspension, and Andy has replaced the rubber bushes with poly bushes and uprated the anti roll bars to improve the feel.

The Drive

On the road, this Corrado delivers exactly what you’d hope for: sharp handling, strong acceleration, and a raw, analogue feel that’s becoming increasingly rare.

The supercharger adds a layer of excitement that sets it apart from a standard example. This is a great interpretation of the "OEM Plus" ehtos.

Electrics and Other

All key electrical components appear to function as expected, supporting the car’s usability alongside its performance.

Andy added that all electrics are in working order.

History and Paperwork

This Corrado has been owned and enjoyed by an enthusiast, with a focus on enhancing the driving experience while maintaining the car’s core character.

The car comes with a selection of supporting items and reflects a well-looked-after example that has been built to be driven and appreciated. It represents a great opportunity to own a thoughtfully modified version of an already iconic model.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPI that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.
