Introduction

Ashley Dawson
Professional Consigner

Few 1990s performance cars capture the spirit of their era quite like the Volkswagen Corrado VR6.

Launched as the flagship of the Corrado range, the VR6 combined sharp Giugiaro-inspired styling with Volkswagen’s unique narrow-angle six-cylinder engine, delivering smooth power and a distinctive soundtrack that set it apart from its hot hatch contemporaries. By 1995, the model had matured into a refined yet still thrilling driver’s car, blending everyday usability with genuine performance credentials.

Now firmly regarded as a modern classic, the Corrado VR6 offers analogue driving feel, purposeful design, and increasing collectability.

A true enthusiast’s coupé from Volkswagen’s golden era.

Coming fresh to market from over four year with our vendor, this Corrado has only four previous keepers and a current MOT valid until 11.06.2026.

This listing was written from information supplied by Ashley after meeting Trevor the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

I’ve really enjoyed owning this Corrado, but it’s time for someone else to take it on and use it properly.

Trevor is the current custodian of this VR6 and has clearly appreciated it for what it is – a proper modern classic with real character. During his ownership, the car has been maintained and enjoyed as a usable performance coupé.

Now ready to move it on, Trevor hopes the next owner will continue to cherish it and keep this increasingly rare VR6 on the road where it belongs.

Trevor will be happy to answer any questions about the car in the comments section below.

Exterior

The Corrado’s design has aged exceptionally well, and this example retains the sharp, muscular presence that made the VR6 the halo model of the range.

Wheels and Tyres

The car sits on its original Speedline alloy wheels, which present well overall. There are some light age-related marks as expected for a 1995 example, but nothing excessive or out of keeping with the car’s character. They remain straight and tidy.

All four corners are fitted with Hankook tyres, which appeared in good visual condition at the time of our visit.

Please take time to review the photos and videos for a detailed view of the exterior, wheels, and tyres so you can make your own assessment of their condition. Tyres are a key safety item, and you should consider replacing any that are cracked, perished, unevenly worn, or over 10 years old.

image

Bodywork

The bodywork is in excellent order for the age of the car. Panels appear straight, with no visible dents noted. The shut lines look visually even, and the overall presentation reflects a car that has clearly been cared for.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our high-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view of what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

image

Paint

The paintwork presents very well overall, with a deep gloss that suits the Corrado’s sharp, purposeful lines. For a 30-year-old performance coupé, it shows impressively. The only minor point to note is a small mark on the driver’s side rear bumper, but this is subtle and does not detract from the car’s overall appearance.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these high-resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

image

Glass and Trim

All glass appears to be in good condition, free from cracks or notable damage.

The exterior trim, badges, and rubbers also present well, maintaining the clean, original look that makes these late VR6 models so appealing today.

image

Interior

Inside, the Corrado retains its driver-focused 90s cockpit layout, simple, functional and unmistakably Volkswagen.

Seats and Carpets

The interior presents very well throughout. The seats are in clean, tidy condition with no noticeable damage or excessive wear. Bolsters remain supportive, and the upholstery appears well cared for.

The carpets are equally clean, with no stains or obvious signs of neglect, reinforcing the impression of a cherished and well-maintained example.

image

Dashboard

The dashboard is in good order, with no visible cracks or damage noted.

All instruments and controls were reported to be in working order at the time of our visit, giving reassurance that the car remains both usable and functional as intended.

image

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The steering wheel and gear stick are both in excellent condition, free from notable marks or wear.

They retain a clean, original appearance, and visually reflect the careful ownership this Corrado has enjoyed.

image

Mechanics

The heart of the Corrado VR6 is its narrow-angle six-cylinder engine, and this example continues to deliver the character the model is known for.

Engine and Gearbox

The VR6 engine presents as a strong and healthy example, with no unusual knocks or unwanted noises reported. It runs smoothly and delivers the characteristic six-cylinder note these cars are known for.

Under Trevor’s ownership, the car has benefitted from a new clutch, along with the cam chain and tensioners being replaced, reassuring maintenance items that add confidence for the next owner.

The gearbox operates as it should, engaging gears cleanly and contributing to the car’s solid, confidence-inspiring feel on the road.

image

Suspension and Brakes

The suspension feels composed and free from any unwanted noises. The car sits correctly and drives without any knocks or rattles that shouldn’t be there.

Braking performance is strong and progressive, offering the reassuring stopping power expected from a well-maintained example.

It’s also worth noting that although some photographs show logs placed behind the rear wheels, these were used purely as a precaution while the car was parked on a hill during the photoshoot. The handbrake functions correctly and holds the car as it should.

image

The Drive

Trevor reports that the Corrado drives exactly as it should. It pulls strongly, feels tight and responsive, and delivers the engaging experience that has made the VR6 such a respected modern classic.

image

Electrics and Other

At the time of our visit, Trevor confirmed that all electrical components and systems were functioning as intended, with no faults to report.

image

History and Paperwork

This Corrado benefits from a comprehensive and reassuring history file helping to track the mileage.

Accompanying the car is its original service booklet, along with a large collection of MOT certificates that help document its life and mileage over the years. The paperwork reflects consistent upkeep and long-term care rather than sporadic maintenance.

Trevor is also a member of a Corrado owners’ club, further highlighting the enthusiast ownership this car has enjoyed. Combined, the history and community involvement add confidence that this VR6 has been looked after by someone who understands and values the model.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPI that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.

This is an auction on behalf of a trade seller and normal auction rules apply, i.e. there is no warranty, no return policy and bids are binding with more info in our terms and conditions.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment of the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bids, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.

Hi, Just looking through the service history. It shows it had a service at 16/07/2003 Service 72,675 and then not another one until 28/03/2022 Service 91,995. Is there any history of servicing during this period? Regards
