Introduction
Jacob Boodrie
Successor to the E-Type, the XJS carries Jaguar’s grand touring and racing pedigree into a new era.
Considered one of the best-looking and most desirable XJS models ever produced, the convertible was a true open-top luxury car, featuring an electric hood mechanism, a strengthened front section, and a reinforced subframe. Just ~7,420 of the 150mph V12 models were built and, with the brand’s marked improvements in build quality and engineering, it quickly became something of an instant classic.
This 1988 convertible is presented in blue with a matching blue leather interior. Having been with its current owner since 2009, the car has been well cared for and has covered relatively few miles in that time. It is offered with a good amount of history and benefits from a recently reupholstered interior.
This listing was written from information supplied by Jacob after meeting Nigel the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

I WANT ONEAsk Questions
Hello Nigel, in the description it mentions rust around the windscreen, Im guessing it’s the scuttle panels? Can you tell me how bad the rust was and had it corroded inside the scuttle area causing water into the footwells?
Many thanks
Paul
Hello Paul, thanks very much for your interest. In regard to the windscreen scuttle repairs and replacement windscreen, I have had the XJS for 16 years and this work was carried out about 3 years into my ownership, so it’s difficult to remember specifically if there was water coming into the footwell. What I can confirm is that there isn’t any water coming into the footwells. What prompted the scuttle repair was the need for a new windscreen, which had developed a small crack. The new windscreen meant that scuttle repairs were in order, to repair the frame ready for the windscreen. The repair was on the near side, bottom corner. I wasn’t on site when the repair was done, so I am unable to say how extensive it was, I’m sorry I don’t have that information. As far as I can recollect, the rust was confined to that corner.
The rust repairs on the scuttle and the replacement windscreen were carried out by EMC Racing in Redhill, Surrey. The work was completed in April 2012 at 88,391 miles. There is a copy of the invoice and a description of the work in the photos, it’s handwritten which might help you to find it. It’s marked invoice 59, dated 23/4/12.
I hope that helps.
Regards Nigel
