Introduction

Dom Ginn
Professional Consigner

A modern classic in every sense, the Honda S2000 combines stunning looks with one of the most exciting, high-revving engines ever built.

The Honda S2000 is a true modern classic, celebrated for its incredible driving experience, exceptional engineering, and one of the finest naturally aspirated engines of its era.

Built with Honda’s trademark precision, the S2000's stunning roadster styling, rear-wheel-drive dynamics, and high-revving VTEC engine delivers an exhilarating connection between car and driver.

With its perfectly balanced chassis, precise manual gearbox, and driver-focused interior, the S2000 offers an engaging experience that few modern sports cars can match. Its timeless design, outstanding reliability, and growing reputation among enthusiasts have secured its place as one of Honda’s most desirable performance cars.

This S2000 is a previous sales and demo car, with Christina, the current owner, the first private keeper. This long ownership, the limited miles under its belt, and summer-ready convertible roof, the Honda is well set for its next owner. It's a lovely, sporty number ready for the warm weather and spirited drives out.

This example represents a fantastic opportunity to own a true driver’s car, offering the perfect blend of performance, style, and everyday usability. A car that is equally at home on a winding country road or as part of a modern classic collection.

This listing was written from information supplied by Dom after meeting Christina the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

I look at the Honda as my friend and have named her "Dolly". She will be greatly missed and has looked after me through all these years together.

We met with the current owner, Christina, who shared her ~18 year ownership experience with her Honda S2000, affectionately named “Dolly”. Christina first discovered the car in her local Honda showroom and was immediately drawn to its striking black paintwork and red leather interior. “I thought it was a beautiful car and very different to the usual two-seater soft tops I had seen".

Having owned a variety of performance cars over the years, Christina quickly grew to love the S2000’s character and describes 'Dolly' as more of a friend than just a car. Used mainly for weekend enjoyment and longer trips to London, the Honda has covered very low mileage during her ownership and has remained entirely original aside from routine items such as tyres and a battery.

After nearly ~20 years of memorable motoring, Christina feels the time is right to let Dolly find a new home, although she admits every drive makes the decision harder. “She is exciting, fast, and reliable - and really cuts a dash when out and about.”

Christina will be happy to answer any questions in the comments section below.

Exterior

The S2000's exterior perfectly balances timeless styling with purposeful performance - it's one of the most iconic Japanese sports cars ever produced.

Wheels and Tyres

Sporty 17" 10-spoke split alloy wheels are fitted to the S2000. All appeared to be in good overall condition: we didn’t notice any major damage, but there are several areas of kerb rash and scuffing.

The front wheels are fitted with Pirelli and to the rear, Continental tyres. Front tyres show with date codes from 2025 and rear tyres 2016. The spec is 215/45 to the front and 245/40 to the rear.

Please take time to review the photos and videos for a detailed view of the exterior, wheels, and tyres so you can make your own assessment of their condition. Tyres are a key safety item, and you should consider replacing any that are cracked, perished, unevenly worn, or over 10 years old.

image

Bodywork

The S2000 bodywork shows a few notes of its years on the road. We spotted a few scuffs on the lower front bumper with a small ding in the lower centre section. Overall, the car could be a real star with some attention paid to the right areas.

Shut lines are visually equal and matching, as are the bonnet, boot, and both doors. All sections, including the roof, opened and closed without issue.

When we looked over the car, we found a few other signs of use. We noted a parking ding on the driver and passenger side door, a small dent to the rear driver quarter panel, and scuff marks to the rear passenger bumper and quarter panel. There was also a slight crease to the drivers side front quarter.

We've highlighted our observations in more detail through our hi-resolution images and videos, so please take the time to look through all the media files for a detailed view of what’s on offer and to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

image

Paint

Finished in the smart 'Berlina Black', which contrasts nicely with its red interior. The colour was consistent and looked evenly matched across the panels.

There are a few scuffs, paint cracking to the bonnet, and a few light scratches on the front and drivers side door. A respray would go some way to bring back its former levels of presentation - although it's perfectly useable in its current shape.

Due to photographing the car on a very sunny day, there were a few swirl marks which showed in the harsh light. Whilst we would expect this from black paint, this didn't pose too much of an issue when we looked over the exterior.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there yourself. Please take the time to fully assess these high-resolution images and videos of the car to form your own opinion about the condition of the paint.

image

Glass and Trim

The windscreen and glass showed well and the soft top window panels look smart, in line with the age of the car. During our visit, we didn't notice any chips or cracks.

We did spot that the front and rear lights and main tail light were starting to fade, along with the wing mirror trim.

Badges and emblems are all present and correct, and present well.

Window seals look great and align with the overall condition of the car. The roof is presented in reasonable condition with a few slight tears to the finish on the edges. Inside with the roof closed, we found no major issues with the headlining, just a few marks.

We've taken you around the car in greater detail in our exterior review video, please take the time to look over the video and see how the glass and trim look from different perspectives.

image

Interior

Purposefully designed with a minimalist layout, supportive sports seats, and a cockpit that places every control within easy reach.

Seats and Carpets

Roadster Red leather upholstery adds a touch of sportiness and luxury to the cabin. It contrasts well with the black-coloured trim, enhancing the car's interior aesthetics.

Seats retain their shape nicely and provide a great place to spend time, showing only light signs of use to the bolster sections.

The red carpets and trim present well, contributing to an interior that feels clean, cared for, and ready to be enjoyed by its next owner. We didn't spot any concerning issues in the cabin, and it was clear that this area has benefited from its low mileage.

We've captured high-resolution photos and a full interior video tour through the car. This covers off the angles inside the car for you to review and appreciate the condition of what's on offer here in our interior review section.

image

Dashboard

The dash shows really well and the leather trim matched the great interior presentation. A very minor mark was noted to the centre.

A smart red finish with aluminium accents to the centre sections is a great sporty highlight.

The cabin is nicely kept, and in-line with the mileage of the car. The odometer showed ~32,623 miles during our visit.

Gauges, controls and interfaces were functioning without concern when starting up the car and out on the road, and all dial surfaces were free from fogging. We noted no warning lights displayed when driving.

image

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

A sporty and clean black 3-spoke steering wheel is designed to keep you focused on the road ahead.

The aluminium gear knob with black gaiter is free from excessive scratches and looks good, aligning with the quality of the rest of the cabin.

We've captured high-resolution photos for you to review and check over the condition of the interior in our gallery section.

Mechanics

Powered by Honda’s legendary engine, the S2000 delivers a thrilling high-revving experience with precision, performance, and pure driving excitement.

Engine and Gearbox

The brilliant DOHC VTEC engine powers the S2000, producing ~237 BHP, and is paired with a precise six-speed manual gearbox. Renowned for its free-revving nature, sharp throttle response, and unmistakable VTEC character, the engine offers an engaging and rewarding driving experience every time you get behind the wheel.

The Honda's engine bay presented well, with some slight paint wear on the rocker cover; this is to be expected on a car this age.

Christina reports no issues during her ownership, with the gearbox delivering power seamlessly. Out on the drive, the car moved effortlessly through the gears, idling smoothly, running well, and performing as it should.

Take a look at the mechanical video to see the car starting from cold, driving around some local roads, and for a closer look underneath the S2000 and the engine bay.

image

Suspension and Brakes

We noted no knocks, bangs, or other issues from the suspension when we were driving, and it gave us no concerns in its performance or handling. The underside of the car showed well and we spotted no major issues with corrosion looking underneath.

The brakes felt to have no pull or vibrations that stood out to us when on the journey, and brought the car to a stop without a problem. Overall the car performed as to be expected and without issue on the road.

Please take a look over the mechanical videos and photographs to see close-up images from under the car.

image

The Drive

The Honda S2000 is renowned for delivering one of the most engaging driving experiences of any modern sports car. Its naturally aspirated VTEC engine, perfectly balanced rear-wheel-drive chassis, and precise six-speed manual gearbox combine to create a car that rewards enthusiastic driving.

Sharp steering and excellent handling inspire confidence through every corner, while the low seating position and open-top design make every journey feel immersive.

Whether cruising with the roof down or enjoying a spirited drive on winding roads, the S2000 offers a level of driver involvement that has made it a true icon among enthusiasts.

image

Electrics and Other

The Honda features a CD player and comes with 2 sets of keys and a storage cover, which we've photographed in the exterior review gallery.

We weren't able to fully test all of the functions when visiting the car, although Christina told us everything was in working order as far as she was aware.

History and Paperwork

Launched to celebrate Honda's 50th anniversary, the S2000 quickly earned a reputation as one of the finest driver's cars of its generation.

Having owned a variety of performance and luxury cars over the years, including Saab, Audi, and Mercedes models, Christina was no stranger to powerful cars - although she admits the S2000 took some getting used to. “I found her a little quick at first but soon got used to it. I look upon her as my friend and named her 'Dolly'".

Over her ~18 years of ownership, the Honda has provided Christina with countless memorable journeys and an exciting connection that goes beyond simply owning a car.

Used primarily as a local weekend and leisure car, the S2000 has covered very low mileage: but it's undertaken many longer journeys, including trips to London, where Christina says it has performed impeccably. Christina tells us, "The car has always been reliable and enjoyable to drive, while also meeting London’s low emission zone requirements".

Throughout her ownership, this car has remained exceptionally original, with no accident history and only routine maintenance items such as tyres and a battery replaced. Christina has cherished the car throughout her time with it, describing it as exciting, fast and dependable, while also appreciating the attention it attracts wherever it goes. “I have made several acquaintances when people come over to admire her".

The S2000 is complete with its owners manual, 4 previous Honda service stamps and 2 sets of keys.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPI that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment on the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bid/s, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.

    Key Bidding Facts

    What is your reserve policy?

A reserve is the minimum price a seller is willing to accept for their vehicle. We work closely with sellers to set realistic reserves that reflect current market values — we don’t take on vehicles with inflated or unrealistic expectations.

If the reserve isn’t met when the auction ends, we’ll work with the highest bidder to try and agree a deal with the seller.

Whether the reserve has been met may / may not be disclosed during the auction — just like a traditional auction house. Bidders usually find out if they’ve won only when the auction ends.

    As a guide:
    – If you’re able to place a second bid, the reserve hasn’t been met.
    – If you attempt to outbid yourself and the system blocks it, then the reserve has been met.

Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.

Network Connection – your device may lose connection and you’re not able to bid, or see the latest bidding history.
