Already an excellent car - the Jaguar XK was further improved with the release of the run-out Dynamic R.

Jaguar is a brand that has produced some brilliant cars, and living up to the past heroes is a tough act to follow. The XKR followed the X150 XK models in 2007, with a supercharged 4.2-litre V8 engine promising a punchy upgrade without compromising its comfort. At the time, it was one of the most powerful cars to leave the Coventry factory. The manufacturers had also developed the car properly, meaning that the quality of materials, reliability and finishing were on par with the best. This helped place the XKR firmly in the greats of Brown Lane, which now offers tremendous value for what is arguably one of the stylish cars of the era. A facelift was introduced with minor alterations to the front and rear lights, bumper design, and a brand new 5.0L V8 under the hood; this being an 'R', a supercharger is also installed.

In 2014 there were some special edition models released for the run-out of the model, this being one of them, the fantastic XK Dynamic R. The model took the improved and sharper chassis and suspension from the track focused XKR-S, but still has the GT credentials that made this model a hit. Exterior

The all aluminium body creates the perfectly sculptured design of the XK Dynamic R convertible.

Wheels and Tyres

The wheels are in excellent condition, 20" factory items. They have had a light skim to the diamond finish and a re-lacquer to remove some light signs of white worm.

The tyres are matching Pirelli items on each corner with a good amount of tread remaining. Please see the image gallery to take a closer look at the wheels.

Bodywork

Looking around the Jaguar, there really is nothing negative to point out. The panel gaps are nice and tight, and the roof is in excellent condition and operates as it should. This is of no surprise given the mileage and provenance of this run-out XK.

Paint

Finished in the beautiful "Italian Racing Red", the paintwork is in excellent condition. Even colour across all panels, and the finish is great and even across all panels too. It stands out even more when the sun is out, enhancing the metallic flake in the paint. The car is a 2014 model, and it has to be said that any stone chips are minimal, with just an odd couple spotted when looking over it.

Glass and Trim

The windows are in good condition with no apparent scratches to be seen. The trim around the windows and roof is also in excellent condition, and the lights, both to the front and rear, have no splits or cracks. The badges are all in good order, with no signs of water ingress under the clear finish.

Interior

Black leather with highlighted red diamond stitching on sports seats is the perfect look for the XK Dynamic R, a great blend of luxury and sporting style.

Seats and Carpets

The seats are the first things which stand out in the cabin. Prominent bolsters with racing-style sports seats offer a tremendous amount of comfort. They are in excellent condition and working as they should. There is minimal colour wear on the driver's bolster which could easily be covered with one of the many products suited to do this. The rear seat is also excellent and doesn't look to have been used a great deal, if at all. Both door cards are in good condition with no damage to point out.

A set of Jaguar factory mats are fitted and are in excellent condition. These have kept the carpets in good order, which are also superb. The boot area is just as clean, with no issues to mention. Please see the interior gallery for more detailed images.

Dashboard

Behind the wheel, the leather-trimmed dash is held together with red stitching to match the seats, and is finished with metal trim and "Piano Black" around the centre display and heater controls. The instruments show a reading of ~18,907 miles, and no warning lights are present when the engine is running.

When you first switch on the ignition, there is a message saying a service is due, but this is purely down to the time and not mileage, as it has only done just under ~2,000 miles since the previous service. Please see the interior gallery for more hi-resolution images.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The leather steering is in excellent condition with no signs of wear to the rim or the multifunction controls, and just to remind you of what you are driving, the R logo sits on the bottom spoke. The steering wheel would benefit from a light clean as pictured. To the rear are the flappy paddle shifters for those with a more spirited driving style.

The gear selector comes in the form of a dial which raises when the car is started, to select the appropriate gear. Please see the interior gallery for more detailed images.

Mechanics

With ~503BHP under the bonnet, the 5.0L supercharged V8 certainly delivers a punch and the all important grin factor.

Engine and Gearbox

As you would expect, with such little mileage and being well maintained, the Jaguar starts up as it should, with no untoward noises coming from the engine bay. The only thing we noticed was the infectious note of the exhaust, which sounds amazing!

The XK Dynamic R is silky smooth through the change of the gears in automatic mode and equally as smooth when using the paddle shifters. View the video review to see and hear the car in action.

Suspension and Brakes

Being the Dynamic R model, it received fully machined front knuckles to improve the steering and has bespoke spring and damper settings with revised adaptive dynamics. Essentially the suspension from the track focused XKR-S comes with this run-out edition, coming together to provide you with a superb handling vehicle capable of offering a luxurious, comfortable ride that can also hold its own in the sports department.

The brakes bring the car to a stop as you would expect, and Simon reports no juddering to come through the pedal.

The Drive

The XK Dynamic R is a fantastic GT car capable of being used comfortably on a daily basis but also great fun for taking on a touring break. It has everything going for it; enough power to keep the petrolhead happy, it looks fantastic, and even better with the roof down for the summer months or crisp autumn mornings.

Electrics and Other

All of the switchgear is said to be working as it should, and there doesn't appear to be any major wear to the buttons. The car is pretty much fully loaded with enough gadgets to keep even the most tech-savvy drivers entertained.

History and Paperwork

With the mileage at ~18,907 at 8 years old and a solid service history, this XK Dynamic R is a run-out edition with low mileage and presented in excellent condition.

The handbooks are present for the car, along with two keys and the printout of the online service history, with the last one carried out on 06.09.2021, just under ~2,000 miles ago. There are two previous keepers showing on the V5, the last one being Simon's mother-in-law, who was advised that the car should be put into her name because of keeping it insured, although she’s didn't really use it after her husband passed away.

This is a fantastic car coming to the market with low ownership, extremely low mileage, and superb condition. Of course, being the run-out Dynamic R model, you get all the extra goodies such as the sports seats, improved suspension and steering from the XKR-S, excellent Bowers & Wilkins audio system, and not to mention the ~4.6 seconds, 0-62mph, 5.0 litre supercharged V8 and a top speed limit increased to ~174MPH. This, when put in sport and race mode, puts this car on another level; we can pretty much guarantee you will become slightly addicted to the sound of the XK in this mode.
