Introduction

Darren Rungasamy
Automotive Editor & Photographer

The Gallardo LP 560-4 is a step up on its predecessor - brutally quick and oh such a good looking machine with some surprisingly practical aesthetics.

The launch of a new Lamborghini is always a landmark. The genuinely all-new competitor to lower supercar market soon established itself as a one the best of its calibre. Boasting a four-wheel-drive system coupled up to a new 552bhp 5.2-litre V10 engine, the LP 560-4 was significantly different from its predecessor, improving on it on every respect. Considered the best of the Gallardo breed, if you've ever lusted over these beautifully crafted machines, then this could be the perfect opportunity to experience a 200 MPH car.

Taking styling cues from the Murciélago LP 640 and Reventón, this final run car was one of the special editions of the Gallardo featuring parts from its Gallardo Super Trofeo race cars.

This car benefits from some specific options that mark it out as stand out car in the Gallardo line-up, such as the optional Style Package, Apollo polished black alloys and full leather seats. It was originally specified for a customer in Singapore, this RHD car was imported into the UK in 2016 and registered with Lamborghini Pangbourne. It was maintained by the same dealer for two years until it was bought by the current owner. It will be sold with its original UK registration plate.

This auction listing was written from information supplied by Darren Rungasamy after meeting Humaira the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

I really don't want to sell it but sadly it's sitting around doing nothing...

Humaira has always admired the allure of the Gallardo and was lucky enough to grasp the opportunity to buy this example 2 year years ago. In her ownership, she simply hasn't had the chance to use the car and as a result, has reluctantly decided to place it for sale.

Despite the fleeting relationship, she has kept on top of the maintenance costs, so rest assured the Gallardo is as good as the mileage and service records testify.

Exterior

Heads turn, mouths drop open, people stop in their tracks. This is definitely a bone-fide future classic.

Wheels and Tyres

The gloss black 'Apollo' 19-inch alloy wheels are unmarked with no significant signs of kerbing or damage. The specially designed Pirelli tyres have all been fitted since the car has been in the UK and are within the legal limit.

Bodywork

The bodywork is in excellent condition, with no form of documented accident damage or suggestion of repairs. The underside, considering the low stance of the car is in very good condition. The panel gaps are as factory.

Paint

The brilliant 'Bianco Canopus' white finish contrasts well against the black detail, which betrays the age of the car. The paintwork is excellent overall, with no notable visible marks on the paintwork. The car also benefits from the application of paint protection film on the front of the car protecting it from any possible stone chips.

Glass and Trim

The glass is unmarked, with no chips or scratches. The glass rubber is in good condition, the build quality still very evident to this day. The exterior detailing and tasteful design rely on the contrasting trim and first impressions are very positive.

Interior

The Gallardo combines useability within a racy but beautifully finished cabin.

Seats and Carpets

The red and white leather seats ooze quality, the stitching and consideration to ergonomics give it a genuine sense of style. They're in excellent condition, reflecting the cars light use and mileage. There are no major flaws with rips or wear. The carpets are in excellent condition.

Dashboard

Lamborghini produced a quality Supercar which finally reflected the high price of the car when new. Obviously, it has benefited from Audi in respects to the switchgear and interior fittings but this is never a bad thing, and somehow manages to disguise its Teutonic roots rather well.

The overall condition of the dashboard is excellent, with most of the switchgear in good order, with just a little wear on a couple of the centre console items. We also noticed some mottling on the door cards, you'll see this in the exterior review video.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The steering wheel is in very good condition, with minor age-related use. The novel E-gear sequential paddle-shift gearbox controls in good condition.

Mechanics

The Gallardo LP560-4 shoots into the orbit as one of the worlds most extreme and powerful sports cars.

Engine and Gearbox

The start-up from cold showed no issues regarding any misfire, rough Idle or hesitating from the engine. The warning lights on the dashboard remained off and as its heart warmed up, the initial smoke from the engine as seen on the video is just a result of water dripping on to the hot components. The exhaust sounds like automotive Ambrosia, with no excessive smoke after start-up.

Suspension and Brakes

On initial appearance, the discs have a little surface corrosion due to a recent lack of use but were soon cleared after a brief drive. There is said to be no creaking or squeaking from the suspension or braking components.

The Drive

The Gallardo 560-4 is capable of reaching 0-60 is less than 4 seconds, this tells you the intent of this car. While it has the impact and drama of a supercar, it's surprisingly docile to drive and combines the best elements of shattering performance and being perfectly acceptable as everyday transport.

Electrics and Other

The car also comes with a Lamborghini car cover, which costs £700. All the electrics are said to be functional, thanks largely in part to its Audi influence. The fully functional automated e-gear transmission and rearview camera are some of the hi-tech features that enhance the experience as well as practical aspects of the Gallardo 560-4.

History and Paperwork

Full Lamborghini service stamps tell you all you need to know about this cars pampered lifestyle.

As to be expected to keep these cars at the peak of their fitness, the Gallardo requires meticulous servicing. The records and stamps will provide the new owner with the confidence that it has had almost yearly routine attention from Lamborghini main dealers. It has very recently just had a 29K service and comes with 11 months MOT. The private registration pictured will not be sold with the car, and the car returned to its age appropriate registration.

Checks carried out by us:
