Introduction

Dom Ginn
Professional Consigner

Combining British elegance with subtle exclusivity and unique bespoke details, it’s a standout collectors' car both on and off the road.

The Aston Martin DB7 i6 Alfred Dunhill Edition represents a rare meeting of two British icons - Aston Martin and luxury outfitter Alfred Dunhill. Launched as a limited run of just 150 cars worldwide, the model elevated the already elegant DB7 with bespoke touches that set it apart from standard examples.

Based on the Ian Callum-designed DB7 i6, powered by a supercharged straight-six engine, the Dunhill Edition received exclusive interior and exterior refinements inspired by Dunhill’s timeless design language. Features included unique trim finishes, luxurious upholstery, and subtle branding that brought an extra layer of sophistication to the grand tourer’s sporting character.

With its blend of performance, exclusivity, and craftsmanship, the DB7 Alfred Dunhill Edition stands as one of the most desirable special editions of its era, perfectly encapsulating the style and refinement of late-1990s Aston Martin.

Wrapped up in a truly collectible package, this example comes to market with low mileage, low ownership and well cared for over its years. Complete with two sets of keys and its service record book with ~9 service stamps, the Aston is a real rarity and well worth a closer look over.

This listing was written from information supplied by Dom after meeting Jack the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

I just love the design - its timeless shape still turns heads, and every drive feels like a privilege behind the wheel of such an icon.

Jack has long enjoyed his experiences with cars over his years motoring, he said, "I've been lucky enough to own some very nice sports cars over the years but had always fancied an Aston Martin. I had started to look into what I thought would suit me and viewed a few DB7s. I was put off by the expense of running the V12 Vantage and when I drove one it wasn’t as nimble as the i6".

With his eyes set on Aston Martin's and already looking over the i6 models, Jack knew he was on the right path for his new car, he said, "The colour schemes of the standard DB7’s was not to my taste but then I learnt about the Dunhill version. This was completely different to what I'd seen before and much more up to date. That and the rarity, meant I started to search for one to buy. It wasn’t easy but when I found this car I knew it was a bit special".

Having less time to spend on his love of cars, Jack tells us, "I'm getting older now and I think that has a bearing on needing to slim down my cars. I'm just not using her much and have a few other nice sports cars that are also not getting much use. It is time to slim down my small collection".

Should you have any questions about the car, Jack would be happy to answer these in the comments section below.

Exterior

Dressed in timeless British elegance, the DB7 i6 stands out with its unmistakable Aston presence - a rare blend of luxury and performance.

Wheels and Tyres

The Aston Martin is set on 18" silver multi-spoke alloys. These are in great condition with only very minor marks and overall look really smart.

The front and rear of the Aston is fitted with Bridgestone Turanza tyres with date codes from 2016 and a spec of 245/40.

Please take a look at the photos and videos for a detailed view of the exterior of the DB7 i6 and a closer look at the wheels and tyres to make your own assessment of their condition.

image

Bodywork

The bodywork of the Aston Martin showed in excellent condition overall, a really smart looking exterior with rarity to match. Looking around the car, the panel lines looking straight and well-aligned. Both doors, bonnet and boot open and close without issue, with the panels gaps all showing without concern.

We've highlighted our observations in more detail through our hi-resolution images and videos, so please take the time to look through all the media files for a detailed view of what’s on offer and to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

image

Paint

Finished in a smart coat of 'Platinum', the coverage is beautiful across the car with no noted differences in colour. A truly stand out car that really looks the part, and carries its rarity well.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there yourself. Please take the time to fully assess these high-resolution images and videos of the car to form your own opinion about the condition of the paint.

image

Glass and Trim

The windscreen, side windows and rear lights all appear in very good condition, and we could see no sign of scratching or chips on the glass. There was a slight sign of age to the front lights and a minor imperfection to the rear window on the drivers side, although nothing that really concerned us.

Badges and emblems are present, correct and look very smart.

We didn't note any issues on the seals on the exterior and these areas showed to be in-line with the rest of the condition of the car.

To the interior, door cards showed really well, only a few minor marks on the aluminium trim. The headlining of the cabin looked excellent.

We've taken you around the car in greater detail in our exterior review video, please take the time to look over the video and see how the glass and trim look from different perspectives.

image

Interior

Step inside and you’re greeted with refined leather, bespoke Dunhill touches, and an atmosphere that blends timeless elegance with true exclusivity.

Seats and Carpets

The seats are finished with black leather and white piping edges. The material looking great across all the seats and the 'Alfred Dunhill' embossed headrests were a real highlight. Both front seats and rear seats in the car look to be in really great condition.

Looking over the carpet sections, the mats showed to be in lovely condition too and looking underneath these, the main floor sections showed without concern.

Checking over the boot, this section showed no issues and again reflected the quality of the rest of the cabin.

We've captured high-resolution photos and a full interior video tour through the car. This covers off the angles inside the car for you to review and appreciate the condition of what's on offer here in our interior review section.

image

Dashboard

The black dash across the centre console all appears in fantastic shape with no issues to report. Black dials with white needles looked excellent and were all functioning as expected. The odometer showed with ~28,670 miles at the time of our visit.

The dials, switches, and controls all appear to be in lovely condition, with surfaces free from fogging or scratching.

We noted no issues with any warning lights and the speedometer, rev counter, fuel gauge, oil temp, and digital interfaces and were all functioning without concern when starting up the car.

image

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The steering wheel is in keeping with the great quality of the rest of the interior.

The auto gear selector also looks to be in smart condition.

Overall, a really stunning cabin to take in the road ahead.

We've captured high-resolution photos for you to review and appreciate the condition of the interior in our gallery section.

Mechanics

The bonnet houses a smooth and powerful supercharged 3.2L straight-six, delivering refined performance with a distinct edge.

Engine and Gearbox

Starting up, we noted no concerns and the Aston performed without issue when running and out on the road. The car idled smoothly and its engine was easily capable of taking the driver up to speed in no time at all. The auto gearbox showed no concerns with shifting the DB7 i6 through to the gears.

We took the car out around some local roads with the current owner to get a better feel for what this vehicle is all about. Take a look at the mechanical video to see the car starting up and more detail in the engine bay.

image

Suspension and Brakes

We noted no knocks, bangs or other issues from the suspension when we were on the road, and it gave us no concerns in its performance or handling. Looking over the underside of the car during our visit, noted no observed issues.

The brakes felt to have no pull or vibrations that stood out to us when on the journey and brought the car to a stop without a problem and with the kind of stopping power you'd expect.

Overall the car performed as to be expected with no concerns.

Please take a look over the mechanical videos and photographs to see close-up images from under the car.

The Drive

The DB7 i6 delivers a grand touring experience that blends refined elegance with spirited performance. The car offers effortless acceleration and long-legged cruising ability, making it as comfortable on a sweeping country road as it is gliding down the motorway.

Jack, the current owner tells us more about his experience with the Aston Martin, he said, "The drive is super smooth and not what you might expect from such a sleek low vehicle. She is fast and effortless to drive. Fast with superb steering suspension and brakes. All I wanted from a high end Grand Tourer".

Balanced handling, supple suspension, and a touch of old-school charm ensure that every drive feels both composed and engaging.

You'll notice a warning light came on during the drive - we spoke to Jack after noticing it in the video and he's confirmed it was the ABS warning light. However, he's not seen it light before or since - there could be an intermittent issue, e.g. sensor.

image

Electrics and Other

During our time with the vehicle we noted that all switches, dials, and gauges appear undamaged and are in great condition. Jack told us the air conditioning is in working order, it has never been ice cold but does blow cold air. The A/C compressor and evaporator assembly were renewed by Chiltern Aston at 24,500 miles.

The car features a Kenwood CD auto changer located in the boot.

We weren't able to fully test all of the functions when visiting the car, although Jack told us everything was in working order, to his knowledge, since our visit the auto flip out action and the turn on function of the radio/cassette have stopped working, this will require some investigation. Jack told us the speedometer has tendency to stick and the needle not move. The odometer does however keep working.

History and Paperwork

After ~17 years in the same ownership, this Aston Martin has covered fewer than ~2,000 miles in the past decade and comes with 9 stamps in its service book.

The DB7 i6 has travelled limited miles over the past few years which shows in the quality of the Aston on show today. Servicing was carried out in 2016, with a new heater return, main header tank hoses, brake fluid change and front camber adjustment completed.

We cover the history of the Aston in our paperwork gallery - take a look over the previous servicing records and MOT certificates to see more behind the DB7 i6.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPI that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment on the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bid/s, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.
