Introduction

Darren Rungasamy
Editor and Photographer

Described as one of the most beautiful four-door cars ever made, the Rapide combines the soul of a supercar with the practicality of a grand tourer.

Defined by its exclusivity and modest production numbers, the Rapide is a rare masterpiece - a genuine supercar capable of seating four within a striking work of styling finesse. Its iconic 'swan wing' doors open to reveal a lavishly appointed cockpit, while the heart of the car remains the increasingly rare 5.9-litre naturally aspirated V12. This engine delivers a unique mechanical symphony and effortless linear power, culminating in the unmistakable Aston Martin 'howl' under spirited acceleration.

Coming to market after ~3 years with our vendor, this 2010 Aston Martin Rapide is finished in 'Onyx Black' with a 'Sandstorm' leather interior. A rare example maintained exclusively by the same Aston Martin dealer from new and has just ~ 46,287 miles on the clock. It boasts an impeccable 15-stamp service history under its three owners and the security of a transferable Aston Martin warranty. It has recently been serviced, sold with two keys, owner's booklet and comes with a fresh MOT.

This listing was written from information supplied by Darren after meeting Neil the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

It always attracts attention and respect, it's like an event everytime we take it out!

Neil purchased the car directly from Aston Martin in 2023, swayed by its low mileage and impressive service history, he was persuaded by the effortless V12 power paired with the rare gift of four-door practicality.

While Neil cherishes the Rapide’s styling, comfort and soundtrack, a growing family and a desire to explore other Aston Martins means it is now ready for its next chapter.

Neil will be happy to answer any questions about the car in the comments section below.

Exterior

The Rapide has an elegant 4-door coupe body with sweeping lines.

Wheels and Tyres

The 10-spoke 20" alloys look good, aside from some kerbing on the nearside wheels that could easily be refurbished.

The car runs on Bridgestone Potenzas, except for the offside rear, which features a 2024 Pirelli P-Zero. The front tyres (245/40) date back to 2020. Both rears are 295/35 spec; however, the nearside rear Bridgestone is nearing the legal limit per its recent MOT advisory.

Please take time to review the photos and videos for a detailed view of the exterior, wheels, and tyres so you can make your own assessment of their condition. Tyres are a key safety item, and you should consider replacing any that are cracked, perished, unevenly worn, or over 10 years old.

image

Bodywork

Panel alignment is visually even across the body, and all mechanical functions - from the door latches to the four-way drop-glass windows - operate exactly as intended.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our high-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view of what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

image

Paint

Finished in 'Onyx Black', the paintwork shows consistent coverage and is largely free of road wear, barring light stone chipping on the nose of the car and a small touch-up below the driver’s door handle.

The car benefits from front-end Paint Protection Film (PPF) and a previous ceramic coating.

Being picky, there are mild marks on the boot and upper rear wings, along with light surface scratches on the roof and flanks; these appear to be superficial and likely to be treatable by a machine polish / specialist.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these high-resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

image

Glass and Trim

The glass is generally in good condition, free of chips or major scratches, though minor delamination is visible at the edges of the windscreen and nearside rear window. While most lenses are clear, condensation is present in the offside rear light and nearside wing indicator.

The bumpers are flush to the body but show a light scuff on the offside rear corner.

Additionally, the passenger door mirror mount shows some paint peeling, though all other exterior trim is well-secured.

image

Interior

The cabin is a masterclass in craftsmanship, a highly-tailored environment has worn its years well.

Seats and Carpets

The sculpted seats have been looked after, showing only light surface marks on the driver’s side and no heavy wear.

The black carpets are free of damp, protected by mats that show only minor signs of use on the driver's side.

The pristine condition of the boot trim further reflects the careful ownership this Aston Martin has enjoyed.

image

Dashboard

The dashboard, facia and padding are smart, showing no significant marks or blemishes. While the lower portion of the centre console fascia exhibits minor wear, the remaining controls, buttons, and dials remain crisp and clean. All switchgear is reported to be fully functional.

Additionally, the headlining, door cards, and interior trim are well-presented and smart throughout.

image

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The steering wheel and paddle shifts are in good shape.

image

Mechanics

The V12 engine fires with a signature high-pitched flare of revs before settling into a steady, purposeful idle.

Engine and Gearbox

The engine fired up immediately with no hesitation. The dashboard remained clear of warning lights, and the exhaust was free of smoke, showing only typical cold-engine condensation.

The 5.9-litre V12 idles smoothly and quietly, with no irregular noises or evidence of leaks during our visit. The engine bay is well-presented, reflecting a history of consistent and diligent maintenance.

The Touchtronic 2 six-speed automatic gearbox operates smoothly with no reported slackness, delay or unwanted noises.

image

Suspension and Brakes

On the road, the car delivers a smooth and composed ride, entirely free of knocks, squeaks, or suspension thuds.

The braking system is highly effective, providing a reassuring pedal feel with no evidence of vibration or grinding during deceleration

image

The Drive

Representing a rare breed of V12-powered four-door saloons, the Rapide offers a level of poise and assurance typically reserved for modern supercars.

The driving experience is defined by a cosseted ride, tenacious grip, and a surge of effortless, controlled power. On the road, the car remains perfectly balanced; brakes are smooth and track true, while the suspension dispatches road imperfections and speed bumps with no significant flaws.

From a smooth, hesitation-free pull at low revs, the engine has a sophisticated, bass-heavy purr; as you accelerate, it transitions into a glorious mechanical crescendo.

image

Electrics and Other

While we didn't test everything during our visit, Neil told us everything was in working order, including the Bang & Olufsen sound system with the, unique to the Rapide, tweeters which rise from the dashboard when the stereo is turned on. Neil told us the Rapide is fitted with several cameras, front and rear, to assist with parking and manoeuvring. This was an additional extra to the car undertaken by the Aston Martin dealership from where the car was originally purchased.

The Rapide is currently covered by an Aston Martin warranty, which is fully transferable to the new owner for continued peace of mind.

image

History and Paperwork

With an impressive history of maintenance and sales through the original supplying dealer, this Rapide has been kept to an impeccable standard throughout its life.

Neil's Aston Martin boasts impeccable provenance, having been exclusively maintained by the same Walton-on-Thames Aston Martin main dealer since new. This single-dealer history continued through to his purchase of the car through the same dealer in 2023. The service book is comprehensive, featuring 15 Aston Martin main dealer stamps, with the most recent service completed just 250 miles ago. Previously held by two long-term keepers, the car is supplied with its original owner’s wallet, two keys, and a fresh 12-month MOT.

Please note the registration plate will not be sold with the car, and it will be sold with its original plate.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPI that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment of the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bids, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.

    Good afternoon,

Looking through the documents on the auction I can see that a couple of weeks ago there were a few things highlighted on the vehicle health check:

    1 rear tyre needs replacing
Discs and pads all round need replacing
1 tyre valve cap is seized to the sensor
    Exhaust valve is seized

Were any of these issues addressed during the service/MOT?

    Thanks,
    David.

    Key Bidding Facts

    What is your reserve policy?

A reserve is the minimum price a seller is willing to accept for their vehicle. We work closely with sellers to set realistic reserves that reflect current market values — we don’t take on vehicles with inflated or unrealistic expectations.

If the reserve isn’t met when the auction ends, we’ll work with the highest bidder to try and agree a deal with the seller.

Whether the reserve has been met may / may not be disclosed during the auction — just like a traditional auction house. Bidders usually find out if they’ve won only when the auction ends.

    As a guide:
    – If you’re able to place a second bid, the reserve hasn’t been met.
    – If you attempt to outbid yourself and the system blocks it, then the reserve has been met.

Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.

Network Connection – your device may lose connection and you’re not able to bid, or see the latest bidding history.
